Not this year, @lynn523 is talking about last year. There are still students waiting for their first decision this year.

oh yeah i know but i was surprised that even a few got off the WL last year because I thought no one ever got off

I’d think last year there would be more movement because of Covid and internationals not being able to get into the US and kids taking gap years and deferring etc
 many schools this year seem overenrolled along with returning gappers and deferred students and that’s reducing the number of transfer spaces significantly.

I think you are right, sadly. Is your daughter happy with her choices so far? It’s been a bit surprising for my son. Although he is happy enough to remain at his current school, if nothing works out this cycle.

Actually my D has had a surprising round too but she didn’t decide to try and transfer until February (because her school handled Covid very poorly and the lockdowns in the country have been very slow to lift
.but they’re improving in both areas so that’s good news) so she wasn’t doing all the “transfer prep” that most of the transfer applicants on here seemed to start doing from day 1 :joy: . She’s still waiting for a couple decisions and a couple WLs that she’d accept in a minute but otherwise she’s happy to stay where she is too. Now that she’s a bit more seasoned in transfer etiquette she might try for a few spring admits but she’s not sure.

That sounds very familiar! My son submitted his applications the day they were due. His college lifted Covid restrictions in the early spring, so the year ended on a relatively high note. However, he realized he wants a bigger school. Like you said, there is now more insight on what to do in the fall if things don’t work out this summer.
