Hello. I was accepted into both schools for neuroscience, and I am going to be on a pre med track. Which school do you think is better for the pre med track? USC would be 15,000 cheaper, but money is not that much of a factor.
Thank you for your input.
When applying to college last year, I was also applying as a pre-med (I’m now a college freshman). I didn’t apply to Vanderbilt, but I did get into USC. I can’t exactly compare the two schools, but I think some things you should personally consider are availability of opportunities outside the classroom and location. For example, USC is affiliated with some incredible medical centers in Los Angeles like the Children’s Hospital and has many research institutions if you’re interested in undergraduate research. Also, if you’re thinking of maybe going to medical school in California in the future, you might make lasting connections at USC who can help you in the future (not to mention, southern Cali weather is amazing). The location of your undergraduate school doesn’t exactly influence where you go for grad school, but some people find it easier to find jobs or opportunities and mentors in the area they were in during their undergraduate years.
Are you from California? Does your instate med school have preferences for residents?
Where would the 15k difficile from - it’s a pretty big chunk of money.
