they send priority
darn why don’t they just email, I bet international students will hear before US students do

yah although I think that the letter is more suspenseful. It is evil of them, but also now we get to experience it the traditional way. Ever since the common app went online it is kind of sad that all the schools are completely technology based.

^ Also good to hear! That means tomorrow or Friday for sure!

And someone posted their acceptance on the vandy admission blog. I have more hope for tomorrow!

Hopefully but I doubt that we in the Northeast will get it before Friday.

same with us in California, or the west for that matter

yah I am in Virginia…So it is possible. Two good days of travel and it could get here.

Good luck to all of you… you’ll know soon enough!

Another person on the blog posted their acceptance, they don’t seem to happy about it tho

"Got my letter!! I am in !!! Only to find out that I get only $2,200 of aid( for working) .
No way my family can afford $64,000 cost…

Devastated ( .sort of wish I was not accepted… "

lol I wish I was in his predicament

yah lol! don’t they recommend to apply RD if you need a large amount of F.A?

^ Agree…that guy just shot someone else’s chance that doesn’t need FA. Sorry, that pretty much stinks! And it might be my kid, who knows?

Yah it is kinda sad. Someone may not get an acceptance now because of him. And that person could have been the person that had Vandy as their dream and would never have considered their acceptance a bad thing.

Yeah, I don’t get that and it does stink he took someone’s slot! I know people criticize ED because they feel it’s for the wealthy, full pay families but doesn’t our $50k+ tuition help fund some of that very generous FA? We will end up paying about $200k for our other child (a student now at Vandy) and are obviously willing to do it again with this child, IF he gets admitted. Don’t want to derail the thread, so I’m done complaining about this - such is life!

Pretty sure we may get the decision today - it took 2 days with our older child.

dwhite - ditto. I think we’ll get ours today, too. DS wore his Vandy tee & yellow polo AGAIN to school. Better be today, or he’s gonna get a little ripe! Stay positive & post if you hear!

^when do you suppose the NY area will hear?

today or tomorrow

Postman came and went…no letter in Michigan mailbox today.

I’m sorry but that person saying they got in, but are “devastated” makes me really seriously mad. they clearly said that if you need a huge amount of financial aid to NOT apply ed…I realize I probably won’t even get accepted here, but people like me and others that didn’t even apply for financial aid and really love the school are going to get rejected now for people like that guy who clearly should have applied RD…and may even give up his spot (and BREAK the ed agreement) because of reasons he should have seen coming…that spot could’ve been for someone else
that was my rant. good luck to everyone still!

I applied ED and require financial aid. I think that this particular student had a large family income and probably had a good idea that he wouldn’t get much aid in the first place (which is why he should have applied RD.) If you are from a low income family, your EFC will be the same at every college with similar tuition (in which case applying to your top choice as ED makes sense.)

Vandy is 100% need blind. The 66,000 must have been what vandy determined he could pay. An EFC of 66k would not come to a family with a yearly income of 80k

Another 24 hours of waiting - no letter in our mail today.

To be honest, he probably would have received $1,000 in aid from most other schools if Vandy offered him $2,200
