Just talked to our freshman son, who attended yesterday's football team. He says the Vandy students sat on the Temple side of the field with the band, while the Vandy players and cheerleaders were on the other side of the field. Is that true? That seems really bizarre.

The field is shaped like a horseshoe. I’ve only been to a few games, but the students have always been on the side by 25th Street. Seems like the cheerleaders have been directly across in the the bottom of the other side of the horseshoe. I can’t remember about the band.

If he thinks that’s odd, he’s going to find basketball to be even stranger. The seating begins below floor level and the benches are on the short sides of the court. It kind of produces a home team advantage since Kevin Stallings has learned to whistle commands and other coaches don’t have the experience needed to shout their directions when their team is at the other end.

Well, for football at least they don’t put the students in the end zone like some schools.

Vandy didn’t seem ready to play last week. Hopefully they will get things worked out.

And I hope they reschedule Anchor Dash! I don’t want to miss out on this tradition!

There was no anchor dash? I agree is should be rescheduled. If VU is smart they will do it at the beginning of the UMass game when all the parents are there. Plus it would be better to have anchor dash into the field on campus versus LP field.

Totally agree with that – Anchor Dash before Family Weekend game. How do we get that idea on Vandy’s radar?
