I was admmited to both Boston College Carroll School of Business and Vandy CAS. I will transfer to other school in my freshman year. Which school should I attend? Vandy or BC?I just want to get a high GPA in my first year to transfer and I heart that Vandy has a GPA
deflation. Is is true? Thanks everyone!

How do you know you’ll want to transfer? That’s a terrible mistake to enter your freshman year in college thinking that you won’t enjoy it enough to want to stay where you are. Go wherever you feel most comfortable, and only consider transferring an option if you actually do not fit at whichever school you attend. I’m attending BC as a freshman come fall (on the waitlist at Vanderbilt among other schools), and I’m very excited despite BC not being my top choice.

As for grades, what I said initially also applies. If you don’t enjoy the atmosphere and the attitude of whichever college you attend, you won’t do as well. Both Vanderbilt and BC are going to have challenging coursework that will require a lot of time and effort, but if you go to school just thinking about transferring out come the following year, you won’t enjoy your time and you won’t do as well academically.

Don’t expect that you will want to transfer after freshman year, and choose a school that best suits you (i.e. don’t choose the easiest school, it’s impossible to determine anyway).

Nothing like another stuck up prospective student in which case enough is never enough. Even Vandy and BC are too lowly for their awesome presence. Either school is lucky to even have the person there if only for a year (if they are trying to transfer somewhere really prestigious, it’ll probably end up being all 4 years, which would be ironic).

psiovana - Choose the school you love the most. You may be there four years… Our daughter is a BC graduate and loved her years there, worked hard, got a great education, and made wonderful life-long friends. Our son is a current Vanderbilt student. He is working hard and getting a great education. He loved his year at the Commons and has made great friends. Wishing you the best as you make your decision.
