It must have been very… educational

to say the least…

^The sociology department is ranked in the top 10 nationally, regardless of what you think about the “sex class”.

I just think it was a poor decision. It doesn’t reflect I quality of academics or anything, obviously.

And I’m not talking about the class, just the “demonstration.”

I agree. It was a mistake and NU should not suffer from it. I was just posting in reaction to the comment about the Duke Lacrosse team. Correct me if I am wrong, but the prosecutor went to jail for that case for trumping up the charges. I believe the team was exonerated. The coach lost his job…All based on falsities…

I think the question is whether it’s worth $20,000 in debt to go to Duke over NU.

I’m assuming that all other things being equal, Duke is OP’s number 1 choice and NU a number two choice.

If NU was one’s number 1 choice – my answer would be an emphatic no. Even with equal cost, absent a specific reason (like excellence in a particular department) – between NU and Duke, go to the school that is a better fit.

OP’s question is more difficult. $20,000 in debt, while not crippling is not insignificant either. I guess it comes down to how much OP prefers Duke. If it’s a close call between the schools, I guess I’d say save the money and choose NU. If Duke was a clear-cut first choice – then it’s probably worth the money.

So you’re saying Duke’s hot chicks and additional throw down might not be worth $20K per year to RandomPigeon?

What about if you add in the weather, the $350K NYC job (w/ no heavy lifting) and the proximity to Hilton Head?

How well do you know RandomPigeon, anyhow??

;>}

Haha, tougis, that’s exactly what I was thinking. The throw down is a major factor.

I should’ve seem this coming, hahaha

The most passive aggressive thread I’ve ever seen.

Just teasing. I’m sure you’ll figure it all out. Good luck.

Is it possible that your OP might have set the tone for the responses? ;)

Duke all the way. 20K debt for a world class education is nothing. Hopefully I’ll see you on campus this fall (HS senior here too).

You should have expected it talking about throw down and hot girls. Sorry, but you asked for it.
