Varsity athletics boost?

I'm a two varsity sport athlete at one of the seven sisters. One team is ranked top 30~ nationally and the other is always top 10.

I'm mixed race (mexican-american and white), I'm learning disabled and I started an org for disabled students on campus.

I have a 3.72 but I'm hoping to raise it next semester to 3.76+ (I can't possibly get up to 3.8 though), do I have a shot at top 5 with that GPA and my extracurriculars?

I really hope their is a consideration for athletes because all of the time I spend practicing and travelling DEFINITELY affects my grades. My learning disabilities also affect my grades, and I'll include that in my personal statement or addendum. I would love to go to UVA, Harvard or Columbia. Thoughts?

I expect to get about 170 on the LSAT, possible as high as 175 depending on whether or not I get my act together. I will not have accommodations for the LSAT though, because I've heard the paperwork makes it not worth it.

Input from anyone with experience with LD or athletic considerations is greatly appreciated!

Being a varsity athlete might get you a marginal boost, but being Mexican-American will get you an enormous boost – about 5-7 points on the LSAT. (I know: It doesn’t make any sense to me either.)

With a 3.7 and a 170+, you have excellent chances at HYS and will almost certainly get into the rest of the T14, most of them with scholarships.

Just wondering, what are you basing your expectation of a 170 on? It’s a hard test for anyone. Have you taken practice tests or are you just taking a stab at your score? If it’s the latter, you might want to re-evaluate that just so you can be realistic and not set yourself up for a big disappointment. Online message boards are not a realistic representation of LSAT distributions.

i’m basing it on practice tests. if i can bring up my logic games, i could do as well as 175. i’ll believe it when i see it though :stuck_out_tongue: those games are killing me.

that’s good. logic games are like the easiest to bring up
