Vassar or Colorado College? Hey guys, I got accepted into both of these colleges and I feel so anxious about which one to choose. I was wondering if you could give me some advice
Thank you so much
Which can you afford? What major/field do you want to go into? Have you visited either yet?
Have you visited both campuses? What are you interested in studying, and how do you feel about the block plan? Is the cost of attendance the same? What sort of vibe are you looking for in terms of campus culture?
Either will give you many great things- I know students at both who are very happy. So here are some questions that might help you weigh the options…
-
Debt / Cost: if one of them requires more than (say) 10% more debt than the other, take the lower debt. If debt isn’t the question, consider grad school: if there is any chance you will want to go to grad school, could the money saved by going to one or the other be used to help either pay for grad school or support you while you are in grad school?

Both have outdoorsy elements, but CC much more so than Vassar.
-
Student demographics: CC is somewhat more homogenous (students of color ~ 38% at Vassar v 27% at CC; international students 12% v 7% at CC; economic diversity Vassar is first and CC is near the bottom.) Male / female is about the same (53% F @ CC, 55% @ V)
-
Structure: study one thing in depth and move on @ CC v more traditional semester structure @ V. For two of the students that I know at CC that was the deciding factor.
-
Both have a generally liberal student body, and there are student activists in both, but from what I can see, CC more so than Vassar. Of course, there are probably people who would disagree with that pov!
So, how much (if at all) do any of those factors matter to you?
Ha! while I was writing the above, TheDidactic and Ir4550 asked a super important question: have you been to either?
