I have been accepted into all three of these colleges but at the moment I am really confused about the college I should choose.......I would like to have a good social life in the college and though I have not yet decided what major I will take it will most probably be something from science....keeping these in mind could you please give your views which one among these colleges would be the best for me......

bro, don’t know which one is better. tara when you’ve decided, please banki duita bata withdraw gardeu hai. i know that our pools arent the same tara uniharule nepali ko thaun ma nepali lai replace garna sakcha tyeslai vaneko ho. please hai.

Since you say you’re looking at science but are not too sure yet, I would definitely go with Carleton. Very strong in the sciences, and anything but shoddy in the other fields too.

yeah, choose between Carleton and Haverford. Vassar is more into humanities. Plus both C and H have awesome observatories:D

Carleton is great for science. It is notorious for heavy workload, but with proper time management you will have plenty of time to socialize, participate in ECs, etc. Will you have any problems with very cold weather?

I guess it’s pretty cool in all these places. Although Minnesota will be the coldest. Lots of snow. In an interview for Midd I was asked if I had a problem with snow. I live in Russia.

HAHAHAHAA
Generic interview. One-for-all interviewer.
Midd sucks!

Haverford has a great social life since its surrounded by several very good colleges and students all interact with each other. Its reputation is also the best of the three.

Haha ouch @ the snow interview.

mhmm, what exactly do you consider the reputation to be? If it’s being widely known then you might be right, but if you are talking about recognition for Master and Ph.D programs - for all I know they do know what Carleton and Vassar are, and value their quality. And U.S. News places Carleton above Haverford if I don’t mistake, if that could be used as a definition of prestige… I dislike those rankings though.

^^ I was thinking more of getting jobs after undergrad. Wasnt considering Masters/Pd.D. programs since majority of students other than those going to medical school will work before grad school. Haverford has a buzz around it as a “hot” school. Which is probably as useful as USN rankings.

wow. congratulations on getting in to all three places. they’re all great places but Haverford is definitely better socially but Carleton and Vassar are both academically better. I base this on testimonials from friends who go/have gone to each of these three schools. But Haverford is part of the college consortium of Swarthmore, UPenn and Bryn Mawr. You can take classes at all three of the places. And these three are among the most phenomenal colleges in the country. Swarthmore and UPenn are great for the sciences and Haverford is awesome for arts and the humanities. I would definitely suggest that you pick Haverford.
Also, Carleton is in the middle of nowhere, so is Vassar. Haverford is close to Philly, and you can get to New York City in 2 hours if you take a bus. Amazing people are constantly lecturing, touring and visiting these colleges since its a consortium and every weekend you can find something going on at least somewhere. Pick Haverford!! Best bet.

I’ll vote for Haverford as well but I am biased :)

I don’t know why everyone thinks that Haverford’s science departments are not strong. 12% of the student body major in (molecular) biology and another 12% major in physical sciences (physics, chemistry, astronomy). That’s the same percentages as at Carleton. Haverford recently built a new very very nice science building and they just decided to hire more tenure-track science faculty despite the economic depression. And as builttospill pointed out, you get access to courses at Bryn Mawr, Swarthmore and the University of Pennsylvania.
