-I am the Treasurer of National Honor Society, member of Math, Spanish, Science, English Honor Societies.
-Tutored students in various subjects, participated in several service projects, helped organize several schools events for NHS.
120+ hours of community service in Key Club (not counting hours from Honor Societies).
-Mentor of a group of freshmen, meet them on a monthly basis.
-Was a member of PEER for a year.
-Was a group leader for LEAP for Ghana, where we raised money to build schools and a basketball court in Ghana.
-Auditioned and accepted into a guitar governor’s school in our state for four consecutive years.
-Awarded “Best Networking” in a project for fighting child obesity. (County-wide fair)
-Volleyball manager during one season.
I took 4 AP and 1 honors classes my junior year and 5 AP classes my senior year (this year).
Nice. Thanks for posting. Do you know roughly when you applied? My daughter applied Oct 28 and we figured with rolling admission she would have heard by now.
@servelovegive Wow, you didn’t hear back yet? I believe I applied Nov 1 and I found out my scholarship today. I applied for early action. Did you daughter do early action as well?
@servelovegive Hi, I hope I can be helpful but I applied Nov.15 but my transcript didn’t sent til the 30th and I found out just yesterday (2/3). So I waited appx. 2 months. VCU results are unpredictable, I have friends who found out 3 weeks later and up to 3 1/2 months later, if you’re really worried I suggest calling/emailing admissions because that’s what I did!
Did you receive your financial aid information in the mail?
I didn’t know there was something called early action. She applied by the scholarship deadline and it was Oct 28. She is going to a dance audition there in a couple weeks, but I don’t know if that would hold up getting into the university.
I feel like they may be more disorganized. Other public universities responded right away - Charlotte, South Carolina Georgia and UVA. When she asked about her status, they said it would be April 1 and nothing more.
Anyway, she was specifically interest in the dance program there.
D applied October 25th, received her acceptance package in the mail today. Over three month wait. Psychology major.
My daughter got her VCU Dance and Choreography major acceptance today! So happy.
I realize now that although they say rolling admission and she applied on October 28 they do not do a separate university admission and separate dance admission. If you apply in dance, the dance department is who accepts you. Her dance audition was Feb 17 and the acceptance came on Feb 27.
Other schools have two separate acceptances for dance and university.
We are waiting now to figure out whether any scholarship is forthcoming.
