Hi all,
I am currently a high school senior with only 5 days left to turn in a deposit (this is really last minute) and I still am not sure where to go.
I got the provost scholarship from VCU, so more than half the cost of attendance would be paid off for me. However, VCU’s engineering program does not seem to have as much recognition as schools like VT. Should I go to VCU for the Money or VT for the program? (VT has not given me any scholarships or aid).
Also can anyone who has gone to VCU for engineering explain whether or not they have regretted that decision?
Thank you in advance
Both are ABET accredited which is the important thing for engineering. http://main.abet.org/aps/Accreditedprogramsearch.aspx What would the cost of each school be each year and can your parents afford the higher number?
For VCU, my tuition and fees are completely covered by the scholarship. I would just be paying room and board. I am planning to live off campus so it should be relatively inexpensive. For VT I would be paying about 27k a year. My parents are able to afford it apparently, but it would still put a dent in our finances which is why I am slightly hesitant.
Another big issue is that I really enjoy VCUs urban environment vs VTs rural. After visiting I really did not enjoy Blacksburg, but im not sure if I should even weigh that factor that high
I’m in the same exact boat (I’m deciding between VCU and VT too). Where did you decide to go? I’m just completely torn and am wondering if VT’s program is worth the extra 20K I’d have to pay.
Hey, sorry I just saw this. I ended up choosing VT because VCUs program didn’t look convincing enough for me. I thought I might as well go to Tech since I know I can’t go wrong with that. How about you? what did you end up choosing?
