Hey guys!
I just finished up my first semester at Temple University as a nursing student. To make a long short, I barely passed chem in high school and still thought it would be wise to go into college as a nursing major. Big mistake. I quickly realizes 1. I didn’t enjoy nursing when i had my clinical experiences and 2. I simply was not suited for college level chemistry. About a month into school i switched majors into marketing, but could only start business classes in the spring semester. To give some background, i only attended temple because i was given a substantial merit scholarship(Im a Virginia resident not Pennsylvania and can’t afford the out of state tuition) and in order to keep it i had to maintain a cumulative 3.0 gpa. At that point i had a C in both anatomy and chem. I spoke with my counselor and decided to withdraw from anatomy in order to focus on chem in hopes of saving my scholarship. Even despite this I ended up failing chem lecture and barely passing lab. Because i was down to 12 credits at this point, the F made my GPA take a MAJOR hit. I ended the semester with a 1.78.
Unless i get a 3.9 next semester I cannot keep my scholarship and also can’t afford to go back to school, so I decided to transfer.
VCU has a minimum 2.5 gpa for transfer students and I’m scared they won’t accept me. (I was already previously accepted to VCU for fall of 2016 but decided not to attend). Admissions told me because I am under 30 credits I will be evaluated based on my high school gpa and test scores as well as my college gpa. I got a 3.76 gpa and a 29 ACT score in high school. Do you think I even have a chance of them accepting me again? I wrote in my essay about my struggle with nursing and how I had picked the wrong major for me and how I’m starting business classes in the spring, but I’m scared they won’t accept me and i’ll be forced to go to community college.
Sorry this is so long but it’s a bit of a complicated situation! And advice would be appreciated
