what would be the best major combination for ending up in VC?

Where do you go to school?

university of findlay just south of you off the 75. heard of it? i never did untill they offered me a ride

If your school offers a major in entrepreneurship, I would suggest taking it up as well.

considering your from a pretty unknown school, it might be in your interest to get involved in entrepreneurship yourself (in an actual starting of business not just classes) to show your dedication to the start-up environment

thats a good idea...i was planning on using a very well connected friend to get in with jpmorganchase i was just lookin into majors and routes of getting there

JPMorganChase doesn't do VC as far as I know, though. He might be able to help you get some finance job though. Cultivate all contacts!

How far is findlay from monroe?

1mx i have no idea i just got here

theFinanceGuy- if you knew the vp of corp loans for the midwest what job would you have him hook you up with? i mean ill start with internships but eventually i want to get into banking not ibanking but finance, whats the best job amoungst big bank corps like jpmorganchase?

It's not really about what you study. It's more about what you've done professionally to get there and who you know in the industry, which is very tough to break into. You definitely need to have experience in finance, consulting at a top firm, entrepreneurship, and/or working for a technology start-up. Check to see if there any venture capitalists in your area. Chances are you never heard of them, but it doesn't mean they don't have credibility. (They're still often filled with people from HYP, worked for Bain, started a business, you name it.) Talk to as many people as you can, do some research, and see what you find. You generally won't find VC's recruiting on campus, even MBA's. It's all through networking/headhunting.

Cmoss I'm not sure of specifics but having internships during the summer or during the school year will definitely help boost your resume and make you stand out.

Your friend should be able to help you get some sort of internship.

so what career should i do in the banking industry with this kind of connection i can really pick and choose but i really dont have a clue
