Ventures Scholar for Emory

I have only recently learned about the Ventures Scholars Program, and I'm not sure if I should join. I kinda want to join the program without recommendation/invitation (I hope I'm not being "braggy" or anything) but there doesn't seem to be much benefit from it.

Are there any of you out there that have been/known a ventures scholar for Emory? If so, what were the benefits?

Anybody with any info about the program can post their input

The Ventures Scholar program is not particularly selective, and no nomination/invitation is necessary. The main benefit of the program is that it gets you on the radar of the member colleges and occasionally sends you emails about various scholarship/program/etc. opportunities. It doesn’t offer much beyond that, but that’s to be expected, it is free after all.

Both of my kids were Ventures Scholars in HS but did not reregister while in college.

@entomom did your children receive more financial aid for anything extra by becoming Ventures Scholars?

No, because there are no merit awards directly connected with Ventures scholar, and need based FA is determined by family finances. The closest Ventures comes to providing additional money is notifying students about Outside/Institutional scholarship opportunities in their emails.

My kids did receive Institutional and Outside merit scholarships, but they were also NM and NHRP which have higher PSAT thresholds than Ventures.
