Our Verizon plan is ending this summer before classes/orientation. My friend that attends W&M currently was saying that Verizon works better than AT&T on campus. Is this false or does this sentence have some truth it?

I was thinking of getting an iPhone but I'd rather have a cheap phone that works than a fancy one that doesn't.

Verizon works better than AT&T, but AT&T works most of the time. There are a few buildings where you won’t get any signal though. I don’t mind it too much now that I’m not living in Jefferson.

My junior has had ATT all three years. It worked in her first dorm fine. She could get texts in her second dorm, but calls were iffy. She just went downstairs to call, but is rarely in her room anyway and talks while walking. This year she has excellent service. All three rooms were in different parts of campus.

Verizon is definitely better than AT&T, but AT&T has gotten better in the last few years. They sent a contractor here in December to measure signal strengths all over campus because of the volume of complaints about terrible service. Service has improved quite a bit since then. However, like many of the previous posters mentioned, there are areas inside buildings where you will get no service.

I still have AT&T because service is okay and I need internet on my phone, one area in which AT&T outperforms Verizon.

You can also get a discount on your service by virtue of being a W&M student. AT&T was 15%, and I don’t know what it is for Verizon.

My freshman has AT&T and regularly reports that he is hanging outside windows and climbing on trees while talking on his cell phone and ridiculous things like that. For the last couple of months it seems better with AT&T than when he first went in Summer of 2009.
