My friend's son from China is thinking about applying Vermont Academy. I'd appreciate if anyone could share what you know about the school. Thanks.

Hi,

My name is David Hodgson and I am the Director of Admissions at Vermont Academy. Vermont Academy is a small (230 students) traditional boarding school in southeastern Vermont (2 hours northwest of Boston). We have a challenging academic program, offering 16 AP classes and several honors level classes, however, our small class sizes and structure provide a supportive environment for students to achieve success. We also offer 22 different sports and afternoon activities as well as extensive music and performing art opportunities. Twenty percent of our student body hail from other countries. We do offer ESL for those students if necessary. Please go to our website [Vermont Academy](http://www.vermontacademy.org).

Thanks

Hi BusyBostonMom – my son applied to Vermont Academy in addition to five other schools and loved it. I will give you my impression however know it is based on a visit and speaking with three other families of students there…very supportive community, the adults are very engaged with the kids and there was a very positive feeling there – people looked happy. There is a brand new performing arts center my son was impressed with. The college matriculation list was good – Cornell, Bowdoin, Williams, BC, BU sent a lot of folks to UVM, St. Lawrence. The other families I have spoken to can’t say enough good things about it and their kids had been there two to four years. Wish I could have given you more specific information, this post is going up a little late but best of luck to your friend!
