I'm a student trying to borrow money to pay for a summer class, which my scholarship doesn't cover. I logged into NetPartner a couple days ago to see my awards status (I've paid for loans like this in the past) and it isn't even there! Instead, it states the following documents have not been received:

Direct Subsidized Stafford Prom Note
Direct Unsub Stafford Prom Note
Direct PLUS Promissory Note
Stafford Entrance Interview
Direct Loans PLUS parent form

I filled out the FAFSA and TAP forms months ago, and my parents claimed they did everything else! I honestly have no clue about these forms. I'm trying to fill them out but they require a Parental Signature and implicate that the parent in the borrower - my parents are not the ones borrowing money, I am. But I can't even see my financial aid award without those forms, which I don't even think apply to me since they are forms for parents who are borrowing money for their kids. I emailed the Financial Aid/Bursar's office nearly a week ago and they haven't responded yet. So confused, does anyone know what to do? I'm clueless about financial issues and my parents don't help with anything.

I am going directly to the Bursar's Office Monday morning to get help, but if anyone (preferably a parent) can offer advice I would like to resolve this soon, so I can get my student loans.

There is a tutorial on [Direct Loan Instructions](<a href=“Securing Federal Loans”>Securing Federal Loans)

student accepts loans on [New York University](http://www.nyu.edu)
student signs Stafford Master Promissory Note on www.studentloans.gov
Student completes online Entrance Counseling session on www.studentloans.gov
(the logins and passwords are what you used for FAFSAA)

The Plus loans are the parents. They sign master promissory note on www.studentloans.gov
Parent completes Plus Loan request form. Get that at www.nyu.edu/content/dam/nyu/financialAid/documents/plus-request.pdf
then fax this form to Office of Finanicial Aid at 212-995-4661

I am a parent and this was all overwhelming to me. However, the tutorial really helped. It took a couple of days for the system to say received. Good luck!

Springreen, don’t fret, my D had the same thing on her Netpartner, I called the FA office and they stated that all that means is that they have processed the FA award and those are things that have to be done in preparation, the FA award would not show up for several days. Since they are now the Direct Lenders for any Federal FA, they are doing things different than in the past. The Parent Plus loan info is there only because that is what will be suggested as part of your FA award. My daughter just received the FA award on Net partner, this past Monday. I would call the FA office on Monday just to have them clarify what you are seeing on net partner.

Supportive is correct, just follow the instructions when you get the actual FA award on net partner. We did it and it really was quite simple. Good luck.

Thanks for the help. I’m still kind of confused though - neither me or my parents filled out any of those things I listed above, so should I do it now? I haven’t filled out any FA info since the FAFSA and TAP this past February is what I mean.

My parents aren’t signing the Promissory Note or PLUS loan request form, because they aren’t borrowing money or contributing to my FA at all. Basically I am going solo, but I don’t know how I can get my FA award without filling these PLUS loan forms, which I can’t do - they are for parents, not students.

The directions for accepting loans says:
But I can’t because all my NetPartner account says is that I’m missing the documents I listed above. There is currently no Awards tab or any info about how much I owe or can borrow!

Just call Financial Aid. They wont give you those plus loans without the promissory notes so dont worry. The other stuff you have to do to get your loans, so google promissory notes and .gov and you should find the website.

Is your FA award there as well besides the federal loans?

Dont touch anything until you know what the awards are. You have to call the FA office.

No - there is no FA award listed at all, or any federal loans, or anything about money.

Literally all that’s there is a list of documents I’m missing. I can’t log into studentloans.gov at the moment since I changed my PIN so I have to wait 72 hours. I can’t fill out the PLUS forms since I’m not a parent and my parents aren’t going to fill them since they’re not involved in my life.

I guess all I can do is wait for the FA office to open on Monday and go there?

What you are seeing is the exact same thing my D saw on net partner and I explained exactly what the FA office said about that in an earlier post.

It has not been several days since they should have processed it - it has been several weeks. Summer Session II is over halfway over. NYU repeatedly has emailed my parents and I to tell us they will drop me from the class if I don’t pay my bill.

I’m curious, was the FA award your daughter received for this Fall, or for a Summer class? And if so, did they send messages prior to that asking you to pay or you’ll be dropped from the class without having given the award yet?

she was just given her FA for the fall.

Well I think this is a different situation then. I’m still waiting for Summer FA even though my final exam is in 2 weeks and I was supposed to pay a while ago. I haven’t even thought about Fall yet. It worries me that other students have gotten their Fall FA packages while I haven’t even received the summer award yet.
