VERY DISHEARTENED!! please HELP!

This is third time I am posting this question as I am now legitimately concerned...

For one of the schools I applied to it asked/stated that on top of each supplemental essay your Name, Date of Birth, and last four digits of SSN to be written. I FORGOT TO DO THIS!

How big a problem is this???!?!?

If you have any insight PLEASE post here as I'm slowly starting to freak out. Thank you

Instead of simply freaking out, why not try something constructive and resubmit with the proper headings, and email the admissions department to state that you’ve done this? That would show them that you can catch your mistakes and do something about them…

I submitted my supplement on the 31st and it is now locked. Would you recommending just emailing the Undergraduate Admissions Office directly?

And I was already planning on calling them when the office reopens tomorrow. I am just looking for any reassurance I could get right now, seeing that I’d be very disappointed if my essays, which I spent weeks on, were not considered because of such a technical mistake.

Of course they aren’t going to throw away your application because of a minor technical mistake. If they had to ditch every application with a minor error, they’d have no applicants left. Think of the number of application essays they get every year that say “I really want to come to school X” (except that the essay got sent to school Y) - now that’s embarrassing. This is just a minor administrative oversight. Breathe…

Don’t worry. I assume you’re talking about Northwestern. They’ll know who you are, tons of people make stupid mistakes. If you’re a very strong applicant, they won’t deny you because you forgot to write some info on your essay.

Yeah, on the scale of minor errors, I’d rank this just above a typo, and thus not a big deal at all. Chances are that this mistake will not turn an acceptance into a rejection.

I would email them instead of calling for an issue like this. I generally see calling as for more serious issues or those that would be difficult to explain via email.

If it is supplemental info and if it was uploaded onto the common app, then you should be fine because the common app program puts your name and common app number on the top of each of the pages. Pick preview app and print it out and you will see this. If it is not the common app, then you’ll have to call them and ask what to do.

You were right Yoho, my name and app # is at the bottom of the page! that’s great…

should I still email the admissions office though?
