Very important information: everyone should take a look

I've posted this on the transfer 2012 thread and want to share it with everyone else. It has somewhat helped me release some anxiety.

It tells you how many people applied to what schools and the mean GPA of transfer applicants.

<a href="http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/news/article/26948%5B/url%5D">http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/news/article/26948</a></p>

Mean GPA of transfer applicants to UCSD was a 3.33 and the amount of transfer applicants that applied were less than last year! WOOHOO

I’m happy to hear that the average GPA this year is still relatively low for UCSD. Couple that with the decrease in the amount of applicants and this is starting to look like a better year for us! I’m pretty sure we’ll see a lot of 3.1-3.4 admits for non impacted majors. At the least, admissions won’t me too much harder than last year. Thanks for sharing kitty!

no davis???

You’re welcome  I think so too! Last year the average at UCSD was a 3.29. It went up this year but I think it’s looking good for us :-)

What the heck?! I just noticed Davis wasn’t there either…

Good news, thanks for sharing!

Sweet. Less transfer applicants for Cal. Crazy crazy crazy, though, how the # of freshman applicants jumped by 10,000. o_o

im not a fan of averages when there is such a large pool of applicants. the data distribution can be totally skewed by 4.0 applicants and 2.5 applicants. I think UC somewhere has a site that enumerates the % of admittance based on GPA alone.

[University of California: StatFinder](http://statfinder.ucop.edu/)

Custom tables.

Sanfranciscokid: I agree. I see your point. There are a lot of 2.5-2.9 and 3.8-4.0 applicants. But I think now that we know the average mean of applicants for a given school, we can kinda tell which school is a long shot and which isn’t. Idk less applicants but higher average GPA this year. I guess people kinda gave up on UCSD this year LOL

How do I access the major specific info? Can’t find ir

Can’t find it *

I don’t think you can SBAZ. If you’re talking about UC statfinder, you can. You click on “custom tables”.

UC Statfinder has potentially very useful information, but they have not updated it since 2008-2009.

less applications from transfers. does that mean more chances for us =P?

Hmmm that’s what I was thinking…even with the flood of tag apps last year I still saw a couple 3.3’s non tags getting in.

from what i read. UCSD took a major transfer application hit this year. so i’m thinking that alot of people didn’t apply because tag was alot higher?

Wow Acoustickitty123 you just made my day!!! haha less applicants is always good!! soo stoked for April now yeaya

Yay I’m glad you guys liked it!
Jnguyen, I think so too! About 2,000 people didn’t appply compared to last year. Better for us.

But then again the average GPA is a 3.33…'much higher than last years 3.29

Thanks for the information. It’s kind of interesting to see the numbers of transfer applications have dropped while the hs applications increased by a lot. Let’s just hope that this will give us transfer students more chance getting into the UC
Seems like you really want to get into UCSD, Acoustickitty123. I’m sure you can do it. Good luck.
