Are there good places to go sledding on or near campus? I couldn’t really tell all that well from the tour route, but I’m just curious. I’m from around Boston so this is something I wonder about.

Hey, we should have at least a few light-hearted threads, right? ;o

Haha, never thought of that...but the last two years it seemed like all the big snowstorms occured when I was on winter break. Brown is mostly flat, and I doubt you would want to sled down the hills with the roads to the city.

Damn, sounds like my worst fears realized. Looks like I'll have to tear up these half completed forms and just try for Cornell and its nice big hills instead...

re: your suggestion: The roads heading down to RISD and the town looked really inviting for sledding when I was there (had there been say, 4 feet of snow). Over by the rock library etc... yeah. Oh well.

There's a hill at a nearby private school where many people in the area go sledding. The hills around Brown/RISD were the scene of the extreme games several years ago, and are quite steep. There's a reason the neighborhood where Brown is located is named College Hill...

Everyone sleds down George st on Ratty trays! It's not too steep but it's a great tradition. The little slope on Lincoln Field is also good ratty tray territory. In terms of more serious sledding, though, you'll have to take a walk.

Here's where I try to salvage my thread a little bit:
So I loaded up arc NASA worldwind and checked out some topographical maps of the surrounding area, roads looked pretty good as had been said, but:
How's Brown for nearby open / green space? Quads are great, stadium scenery is good, just wondering if there is more to be seen.
