@MusakParent no he won’t be doing early action, but we are hoping to do another visit just before your audition. We just got a nice email today from the faculty member who worked with S inviting us back for what she had already discussed with S. Hoping we can work it out for the Tuesday he has no school because it’s a Tuesday specific visit.
Great to hear such good things about Lawrence! It’s the only place S19 is applying that isn’t in the northeast. We can’t get out there, unfortunately – he’ll do a regional audition in NYC on January 11. Would love to hear more about why you liked it.
When you get to talk to students (without admissions staff/department heads hovering) ask how hard it is to get a practice room. That’s a surprisingly important factor. You don’t want to constantly be practicing at odd hours because every room is full except at 6am. Also find out where the closest food to the music building is. A lot of times the music ed schedule is so packed that the kids don’t get a proper lunch break, so adequate vending machine offerings or grab-n-go stations are the only way they eat.
Another thing that varies school to school is recital attendance policy. Some have recital credit as pass/fail, others “grade” you. Some only accept recitals on campus, others take professional off-campus, some even take high school concerts.
Some good questions to ask on our next visit to top choice, first visit elsewhere. Thank you. I hadn’t thought about practice rooms. I asked about any dorms or houses allowing practice in their rooms. One college I checked into had a dorm for music students that allowed that (can’t remember which) and another had practice rooms in the dorm in addition to the music building.
my little daughter loves to listen Air Supply. She always shows that she plays the guitar. She is too small, if it goes on like this, we will definitely give it to the music school. Now Air Supply have tour https://airsupplytour.com/ I don’t know whether the child will sustain the concert or not
