This is a very good question. It’s none of their business,why bother?

Because this is a great excuse to attack China. Although China is by no means a threat,but U.S still regards it as a potential threat. Actually,when it comes to human rights abuse,underdeveloped parts of Africa should be mostly concerned.But nobody cares. Why? Because there’s no need to attack them.

U.S never cares about whether we are living poorly or happily.U.S never wants to help chinese people in any way.(I’m not saying this is wrong,I think this is right because U.S only wants to protect its own people)

The press can’t help but be biased in which details they choose to show. Thus, no one outside of Tibet really knows what’s truly going on and what the true motivations are… but still…

… the Olympics has been a symbol of international peace and well-meaning for decades. Battles have been temporarily halted just for these competitions. The protests in Tibet technically have no relations to the Olympiad games. For some US politicians to try to use the Olympics as a political weapon against the Chinese government is just plain hideous.

Thank god Bush had the sense to lay his foot down on the proposal that US boycott the opening ceremony.

Also by using “the Chinese” instead of “the Chinese government”, the Western media subtlely plants this idea into readers mind: Tibet is a separate country–hence the Tibetian vs. the Chinese when Tibetian Chinese is one of the minorities while the Han Chinese is the majority. The legality of China’s sovereignty in Tibet region is probably no less legitimate than England’s in N. Ireland, Spain’s in Barque, or Israel in Palestine…etc yet it seems like people are a lot more critical about China. Also, if Tibet were to have been left alone as a country, it’d likely to be ruled today by Tibetan religion hierarchy with an iron fist which includes slavery and serfdom and with human rights record a lot worse than China. Given this, you have to wonder about the motivation.

Unfortunately, Westerners often see people and their respective governments as two separate entities just as westerners see religion and government are separated.
Caesar in the west is Caesar and God is God. In China, God is Caesar. God is the commies. When you condemn commies for their wrong doing, commies distort this message and tell Chinese that the west hates Chinese and china.
When we talk about China’s sovereignty, we must understand that in Chinese history, there is really no define boundaries of east asian kingdoms, and no Peace of Westphalia which helped to establish sovereignty.
For east Asian countries, sovereignty and nationalism are imports from the west , and by no means a natural product of east Asian societies.

Nationalism is something that is inherent in human personality and has nothing to do with country of origin. The Chinese called themselves the Middle Kingdom, believing that they were the center of the world and culture (with good reason, at the time), long before westerners ever arrived.

Yucca: Who is brainwashed.
We are all brain washed in our own way.

Jimmy: Don’t tell me that Chinese are very good at distinguish news sources.
Your parents know because your parents and your parents’ friends are the elites of the China. Go and ask farmers in the country side, non of them know that 1989 tiananmen square ever happened, and almost no one there has the gut to speak for themselves unless they were exploited to the extreme. Needless to remind you that there are 800 million farmers. A lot of Chinese are, in fact, brainwashed by commie propaganda to believe in whatever the government want them to believe in.

Overall, I think chinese society is not changing at a faster rate, it is slowly falling back, the rate is getting smaller and smaller as days go by. Now, even Marxism-Lennism is in decline in China. Instead, they replace dangerous ideology such as Neo-Confucianism as the central ideology of the society. We also seen a growth of nationalism all over the place, those nationalism is hateful and pertains to racism against Koreans and Japanese.

I wouldn’t go as far as to say “brainwashed”, but they’re certainly…heavily influenced (though that could be argued for any nation).
When I was in China, I noticed they blocked several major websites from being accessed, such as Wikipedia, most blogging systems and any other user-entered (controlled is probably better word) websites.

Unfortunately,you are wrong.
In United States,maybe over 80% people can tell you they worship jesus,they worship God.
But in China, nobody worships commies,nobody treats it as God or anything like that.It’s simply a political term.

Only western people believe commies are something special.
And once again,commies never tell people westerners hate China. This fact is discovered by chinese abroad,the people who currently live in United States.Without living in the states for a while,you will never believe western world is anti-China.

Jarn: lol, that’s not nationalism at all. Chinese never believe that China is a nation or middle kingdom. China means Zhong Guo, the term was coined after the fall of Qing Dynasty , the last imperial dynasty of China, with the rise of Sun Zhong Shan and his fellow Nationalists who adopted nationalism, democracy as the doctrines of revolution. Before Qing dynasty, Zhong Yuan, “Middle Ground” was used to term the central point or focus of east asian civilizations. Whoever control the Zhong Yuan aka “Middle Ground” dominates over the entire east asia. That’s why Manchu and Mongolians were able to subdue Southern Song and Ming dynasties. Becuase they controlled the Zhong Yuan. After you control Zhong Yuan, you become the official son of the heaven, receives a mandate from the heaven, and becomes the ruler of the world. If you want to be a kingdom, you must pay tribute to China, such as in the case of Koreans and Japanese. And if you don’t, you are a tribe. They even called Roman Empire a tribe in Han Dynasty. lol
But yes, China does have the world “country or nation.” But this term was only used during the warring states and spring and autumn period to describe the separate factions within the known world who want to gain control of the middle ground, or zhong yuan.

Nay.
China society is changing,actually China is facing problems with oil shortage and inflation.The RMB has changed a lot in the past two years.
But the government and political stuff are changing slowly.That’s true and normal for a stable country. If you are interested in rapid change,just think about Russia in 1991.

And,the way chinese people think is largely dependent on traditional chinese culture.
But western people can never understand this,traditional culture and history. 非我族类,其心比异.

Chinese culture is non-confrontational while western culture is aggressive.

china=zhong guo
zhong=middle
guo=country
This means,china doesn’t want to be radical in any way. Being extreme is always bad,even too good can be bad. somehwere in the middle is the best solution.

China is the cess pool of the world right now. Dirty people. Communism is just evil, I watched a documentary on tibet, and they put hidden cameras in a temple. A bunch of chinese police came in and attacked a nun, raped her, then stuck a cattle prod (basically a 100000 volt taser) into her…well you know.

Tibet was never a part of china, and tibet needs to be free. If i were an olympic athelete i would boycott.

EDIT: I dont dislike chinese people, thats not what i mean. There are many fine chinese, but any one who follows their evil communist leaders, is also evil.

Dirty people?
haha,I finally found a typical anti-china person on cc.

Okay,you watched a documentary? where did you get it?who made it?how do you know it’s reliable?
I remember..well,U.S soldiers raped a lot of girls in Japan and Iraq.But they are not dirty,right?

Tibet is always a part of China,you know nothing about history.

boycott olympic?Very interesting. Apparantly,you are anti-China,not simply anti-chinese government. If you want to be against the government,you can damn the government. But since you want to boycott olympics,I can clearly see that you want to fight against the whole country and its people and olympics itself.

Everyone has his rights to believe in something,follow something including communist.Communist won’t be evil or some simply because what you believe.

by the way,you also lack common sense.“basica 100,000 volts taser”?lol.
1000 volts are powerful enough to kill a person.How did you come with a number like 100,000?
