Very strange financial aid situation.

Please help

My "total cost of attending" is about 5 times what I got on Princeton's Net Cost Estimator. I'm an US citizen, my family's annual income is 80k, we don't have any assets/businesses and our savings is less than 30k. However, on my aid letter, my Parents' Contribution is over $11000.....
When I ran the estimator at home I got Parents' Contribution of $1900. I reviewed my PFAA and found that everything was filled out correctly.

Paying $50000 over 4 years is problematic for us.

What should I do??

I hate to say it, but you probably misentered info into the estimator. Even my family w/ an income of ~$60,000 is expected to pay $6500 this year. An EFC of $1900 would require an income in the 10k-25k range; an $11000 EFC, though expensive, sounds about right for an income of $80k.

you should be paying around 8 grand. Its supposed to be 10% of income if under 120k yearly

Talk to the fin aid office.

The calculator is here:
https://sweb2.princeton.edu/cgi-bin/FinAid/any_year_finaid_form_post_new.pl.

Solemn, where did you get your info? I talked to the financial aid office today and they told me that normally a family making less than $60000 would not be expected to pay, so for a family income of 20k the EFC is definitely 0.

Also, see http://www.princeton.edu/main/news/archive/S28/50/00O59/

Its your savings

^^^^ Yup, it’s your savings.
