Very worried about AP Score!

Yeah, so I am getting so impatient about my AP Chem score, and I have no idea what I got since this is my 1st AP. So could someone tell me what score corresponds to my amount of studying? Thanks!
-self studied
- Looked though all review books I could get my hands on (REA, PR, Barrons, Fast Track to a 5, Petersons, Cliffs, Kaplan)
- Looked though two 3-inch thick college textbooks
-Has been studying since the summer before
-Did all the free response ap chem questions available on the college board website- twice

... and I still think I got a 1

Obviously, I can’t tell you based on how much you self-studied. I only skimmed through 1 study guide and then went in and wrote the exam lol It’s quality vs. quantity. It’s how well you remember stuff, how long before you studied before the exam, and your problem-solving skills.

I’m also quite worried too so you’re not alone =D

Funny thing about your first AP test. Almost everyone walks out of there thinking “wow, I completely bombed that test. some of those questions were ridiculous.” The thing is, AP test writers put questions on there that they expect VERY few people to get right. They understand this, especially with such a difficult subject like chemistry.

My first AP test was World History, I walked out of there thinking “that test completely destroyed me.” Especially since I did no studying (I didn’t even read the textbook during the school year!) and I got a 4 on it. Not perfect, but significantly better than failing.

Just keep in mind that there is about a 60% pass rate for almost all AP tests (if you consider 3 passing, which most colleges short of Harvard, Stanford, etc. do). This means that you could potentially get a 50% on the test and walk away with a 5. Stranger things have happened.

In short: Don’t stress. I’m sure you did very well. Your studying means you probably got a 5, or at least a 4. Enjoy life until you find out (which, if you’re that stressed out, pay the $8 and you can probably find out tomorrow, latest Wednesday).

Ahh! My dad takes away all the money I earn so I can’t pay the $8 so I still have to wait 3 weeks. =(

There’s nothing wrong with waiting.

IDK if you knew this… but AP Chem is a very tough course to self-study, as a significant portion of the AP exam is devoted to problem solving & thinking… Those skills are difficult to gain through self-study… and judging your preparation, I agree with ttyl…

While some courses require simple memorization(quantity over quality)… chemistry is based on the quality of your understanding.

Still, remember a 33% on the test is like a 3… a 45% is a 4, and a ~55% is a 5. You’d have to get lower than 15% right to get a 1. if you did all that, you really should’ve gotten at least a 3+

If you think you got a 1, that means you got under 20% of the questions right.

After all that studying that’s literally impossible

Don’t worry so much; its not like you can change your AP score now.

With your strategy, I think you definitely did well!

haha I got my AP score today and I got a 5 and AP Chem! I did not see that coming at all and neary cried tears of joy lol. Sorry this thread is kind of outdated.
