<p>Hey guys I was wondering if anyone here can help my friend out. She knows she wants to be a vet but she's clueless about the whole system. I tried explaining to her how colleges are set up but she only got more confused. Can anyone suggest some good vet schools and explain how it all works with undergraduate and graduate... does she have to go to a vet undergraduate program..and she needs a licence? Any suggestions and advice would help her out. 10x in advance!</p>

<p>You don't major in pre vet. Major in something very scientific, like microbiology, biochemistry, or animal biology, meeet prevet requirements, get experience, and apply</p>
<p>Getting in to a vet program can be tougher than getting in to medical school. It is important to have lots of experience working/volunteering for a vet, high GPA, etc. Most students take the MCAT (but many schools now accept GRE scores) and must score well to be competitive. <p>First things first. Veterinary studies, just like Medicine or Law, is generally a graduate program. So your friend should start by getting an undergraduate degree, preferably just as if she were going to apply to Medical School.</p>
