Ok so today's the start of school break here for 2 weeks. And I'm not going on a roadtrip or anything.. And I have to study hard for my finals in November. And nearly all my friends are going to australia this break (for the soccer tournament - I wasn't allowed to go due to my parents refusal because of the exams :(:( im the friggn captain!! ). And I have a PS2 in my room which I never use (I use it to play dvds). And a computer. And after getting over my bitterness about not going to aussie, I thought, "hey maybe I should buy a video game because I'm going to be such a loner this break"

And I don't even know if ps2/pc games = video games.. I don't really know much about these things.
We have the orginal Sims pc game.. And I was seriously addicted to it at one time and ended up promoting my guy to the highest work position (sims ppl, you know what im talking about)..
And I had a Starcraft (?) game also.. that I kinda liked.. About killing aliens i think? I don't really know if it was called Starcraft.
And I have the Age of Empires game which I kinda enjoy.. except I'm so bad at it.. the computer always wins :(

So I in conclusion made by these 3 games.. I think I like strategy games. And I would like you guys to help me pick a strategy game (ps2 or pc). I've asked around and I heard that Alien vs Predator (?) game is a good game.. And I also heard that WarCraft III is a good one too. I don't like any car games like umm Gran theft auto (?) or any of those racing car games. Oh and I love soccer and so I thought I'd like the fifa soccer game.. but I don't really like it.. I don't know why..

And most of my friends arn't those game console people and so arn't I but I would like to get interested!
So recommed couple of games please! (im thinking of buying one tonight or tomrow or maybe tomorow tomroow)

First off, Grand Theft Auto is not a car game, it's a totally different experience that you can't really understand until you try it. Yes, cars are involved, but they aren't the focus of the game.

If you like strategy, Age of Empires, Starcraft, and Rise of Nations are good bets. Also check out Rome: Total War.

ohhh thank you thank you thank you!
I'm checking out rise of nations and rome:total war right now.
Has anyone heard of Civilisation II? Is that also a good game?
I've kinda narrowed down my preferred genre right now.. I'm kinda thinking for war ish games with like, goals to achieve.. Like, I remember when playing Starcraft, they gave me this mission that I had to complete..? Are there any games like that?
Rise of nations kinda looks like Age of Empires (which I already own and suck at) from what I'm seeing on this review page.
Ohhhhhhh Rome: Total war looks really really good!! (the screen shots i mean) Does anyone know about Battlefield 2?
I'm all into the war thing but are there any games that go beyond the horses and the archery people and the catalysts and yeah? Like, stuff involving umm helicopters and umm jets and stuff..
thanks uclari! and thanks everyone

thanks cavalier! i'll go have a look at the video store tomorow
allena, yeah my sisters are so addicted to the sims.. they have the whole expansion pack collectors editiona and all sorts of stuff.
brown, yeah i recently found that out.. bit disspointing.. it looks really good on the screen shots lol

I have another question.. when I went to have a look, a lot of the PS2 games had this umm : netplay (?) thing underneath the title. And my friend guessed that you play with other people in the world..? Well I know you need an internet connection but how do you do that? Is there a jack on the ps2, and do you have to connect it to the internet thing on the wall? (We have that wireless connection thing going on in the house)
And if the game says "netplay" (i can't remember that's the word), is the game only to be used with other people? not just by youself?
cheers

If you can get your hands on a GameCube, try Pikmin. :)

Otherwise... there's Age of Empires on PS2, but in general, PS2 isn't exactly a strategy game goldmine.
If you're willing to try an adventure game, try God of War or Beyond Good and Evil. They're fantastic.

Civilization II is a GREAT strategy game. I kind of consider it a classic for strategy games. ^^ It's really cool how it's all complicated unlike a few recent games I've played. = = It's also a great time killer. :P

What about Minesweeper? That's strategy too! :D

i, on the other hand, only prefers first-person shooters. sometime ago i was okay with strategies, but i think as workload increased, i didn't really like strategy anymore.
