view of californians

i did read all 6 pages…basically everyone please calm down, on both sides of what comprises most of what we all consider “our world”

croberts532 you have some legitimate as well as some very unfounded arguments. A bit of advice though, when arguing, put your emotions on the sidelines and stick to the facts, your pride for Kali is great, but at times, you made an a$$ of yourself

BTW…Soul Kid #1 - More Bounce (In California) is a fantastic song to chill out to…IMO

& USC was my 1st choice for various reasons

UCLA was my second choice...

but unlike some, I can muster the smallest shred of maturity required to not post lame, outdated (the Fiske Guide agrees) acronyms. Go Trojans, but go Bruins too, except on Dec. 3rd of course. If you let the sports rivalry cloud the fact that both are selective, elite schools with very respectable student bodies, then you're either ignorant or seriously malinformed.

And add California Love to songs to the songs to chill out to list.

i hate when people assume that if i live in california i'm either
a) liberal
b) rich
c) lazy
d/e) tanned surfer
f) a hippie

or they ask you
g) do you go to the beach every day?
h) isn't it sunny where you live? don't you live in california?
or my favorite
i) you're from san francisco? do you know any gay people?!

i live in the bay area. i always have to clear up any misconceptions about california when i'm talking to people. where i live, its not all its stereotyped to be. this is all from a bay arean's point of view.

a) no, not everyone in california is a liberal. it just depends which part of the state you're in. san francisco is the most liberal, and SoCal is mainly conservative. me and my boyfriend are part of the miniscule but present population of conservatives living in the bay area (its really funny i saw this thread. he lives near the ocean, goes surfing, long blonde hair, and i made him a shirt that says "fake hippie")
b) i hate FAFSA, because they don't take into account that the cost of living in california is WAY HIGHER than living, in lets say Iowa or something. the same amount of money you give to 2 students from both states won't go the same distance. no, we're not all rich and buy designer duds or that crap.
c) no, we're not lazy or surfer bums. in the bay area, there is surfing. but 95% of the time its freezing, or overcast, or foggy, or etc. but that doesn't stop them from going out there. (i know, cuz i drive to half moon bay every day and there's always surfers, overcast or sun)
d/e) HAHA i laugh at this. 80% of our weather includes clouds. don't ask us what color the sky is, or we'll say its gray. i like to make fun of the girls who go out and get orange tans and try to look like summer in the middle of our winter season. and no, not everyone in california knows how to surf. that's like assuming every chinese person knows kung-fu
f) hippies exist, but mostly congregate near san francisco or santa cruz.

g) ...no
h) if you live near the water, you will get fog. its not always sunny all the fricken' time.
i) actually i do, but they don't even live in this country lol. i just don't think people should assume that since i live near san francisco, i have a lot of gay friends like on TV or know a lot of gay people.

but yeah. just trying to clear up stuff. =)

all i know in california is you can surf and snowboard all in the same day, we did it this year, it was so sick.

when its overcast during the summer, you can surf without a wetsuit in socal, its still warm out and you even get a TAN. I actually prefer "june bloom" because it cools everything down and not as many people flock to the beach, which is perfect for me since i skimboard alot.

California is one of the most diverse places in the world. I've travelled all over Europe and found pieces of California everywhere i went.

I love california and will never leave. sorry if this doesn't answer the OP questions.
