Villanova - Class of 2025 - Early Action

Hi there, congrats on your acceptance. Did you end up going there? I am wondering, why do you think you got in even with a lower GPA? What was it about your ECs or essays that appealed to them, in your opinion? I am sure that you stood out in the holistic approach, that you showed leadership and character beyond your gpa. My daughter has a relatively “lower” GPA like you, but has been an exemplary athlete (competed internationally and won gold medals), excellent/strong essays, and her commitment to volunteering is very much in line with Villanova’s values. I know Nova is a far reach for her.

is this a superscore SAT?

I did end up attending, and three months and a few days in, I am glad to say that I’m at Villanova. Even though I had a “lower” GPA compared to other applicants, I believe my ECs helped with my admission. Like your daughter, I too was committed to volunteering, which was displayed through my ECs AND my essay. I wrote it about a life changing event, which was completely unique when compared to the typical essays. Villanova admissions expect developed character and commitment to the community around them, not only grades (although grades are STILL essential). They want to be sure a potential student could observe and practice their values of Veritas, Unitas, Caritas. With her ECs, it’s safe to say that it’s possible for an admission to Nova.

Congrats on acceptance! was this a superscore SAT?

No. Scores were from one exam

They do! My daughter has been offered some. She didn’t apply for the Presidential but her sister’s boyfriend attends - about to graduate is giving her many tips. He received Merit scholarships and his family is not at poverty level by any means. It’s best to ask the FA department - a few are very helpful.

Hi - this is really not accurate. Here is the link to Villanova’s information about scholarships.

Other than the Presidential, which it sounds like you know requires a separate application, the other scholarships listed here are for specific underrepresented groups.

You may have received a university grant, which is a financial aid piece based on your CSS profile. That’s not a merit scholarship.

Unfortunately they don’t. They list very clearly what their scholarships are. There are no other merit awards than what is listed here.

The finalists for Presidential all receive a merit package but that is a very small group. Maybe 20 students?

Sad but true!
