Thread for anyone that applied Early Action to Villanova. I think their website says decisions will be out by the 20th, so I’m hoping a little earlier, maybe the 18th? What do you guys think about your chances. I have a 34 ACT and a 3.7UW/4.5W GPA, but I’m expecting a deferral since VSB is so competitive, especially EA.
@iamatable I called and the lady said still around the 20th. They were a bit earlier last year, the 16th I believe, so maybe we still have some hope.
@iamatable I don’t know my chances college admissions is so crazy. I have a 33 one time composite but a 34 superscored. Lots of leadership, community service, ranked 1 in my class, but I’m from a small school in Iowa. I have taken a total of 9 APs by the end of my senior year. My school doesn’t offer many, but I advocated to take some online and self-study. I have applied to 4 EA schools I’m hoping for one acceptance.
On the website they say they accept highly exceptional candidates through EA, with SAT scores of 1410-1500. Mine is a 1400 and I’m really hoping they will be as holistic in the admissions process as they say they are.
I’ve heard anecdotally from a couple of parents in different Catholic HS that Villanova likes to defer a lot of the EA kids, but will accept a lot of the deferrals in April. So when the results come out, if you get deferred, try not to worry too much!
Best wishes all! D applied EA for engineering SAT 1510. UW GPA 4.0- hoping for good news as only EA school.
S applied EA to VBS. 34 ACT, 4.25 WGPA, great XC with leadership. Rising grades Q1 senior year with 3 addt AP’s. Hoping for deferral if he doesn’t make first round. Also applied EA to PC and hoping for good news there, though this is his #1. Good luck to all!
Don’t sweat it students and parents. Villanova has been overwhelmed with EA applicants the last few years and has had a hard time keeping up. My son (and a couple friends) were deferred from EA last year and all eventually were accepted when the RD results were announced. I just don’t think it has the staff to properly vet everybody before the EA results are announced, which is why so many deferrals occur. So if you’re deferred, don’t feel too badly.
Last year EA was the 20th at 5pm Eastern. Exams finish evening of the 19th this year, so my bet would be either 19 o or 20th after the offices close. Good luck all! It’s a GREAT school. My D loves it!
Hey all, I know VBS is very competitive and was wondering if you think I could get get in
1500 SAT
GPA 3.95 UW/ 4.35 W
Rank 5/247
3 sport varsity athlete, captain of all three
NHS, Science honor society, math honor society
Bunch of extracurriculars with multiple leadership positions, also a lot of community service
Pretty good amount of Honors/AP courses taken
I think you know the answer to this.
Actually, there is reasonable chance you could get waitlisted and not accepted since they may not be convinced that you would attend and don’t want hurt their yield.
I’m seeing on the Villanova portal that: “Award Notification Date: December 15, 2017.” This is referring to the decision isn’t it?
@seanjbln I believe 12/15 is for both decision and financial aid award for the ED applicants. EA is expected to come out on the 19th or 20th>>Financial aid might be later on for EA.
@GoingEast Ah okay, thank you!
Does anyone know the scores you need to get to get into the Neuroscience program?
