I agree with you there, it will be an anomaly.

I have not, I didnā€™t know that was an option. I will probably wait until at least tomorrow morning before contacting them.

hopefully theyā€™ll end up coming out before the end of the night its hard to keep waiting hahah

I think itā€™s premature to say what the admitted student score range is. The range from above is for EA admittees, which would be expected to be higher. The RD admissions would likely lower that. This is not to say there wonā€™t be some inflation due to virtually all schools being test optional, but itā€™d very early to be quoting stats for classes that are not yet fully formed.

@KeystoneState64 and doing that, is it aligned with their mission and values?

Son rejected villanova, accepted northeastern

Decision: Accepted
State/Country: Oregon
GPA: 4.48 W, 4.0 UW (at time of application)
SAT/ACT: 1480
School/Major: Computer Science (I also identify as female)
Rank: 2/190 something

11 APs (3 scores: all 5s), catholic school, no varsity sports, strong EC otherwise + internship, very strong recs

Iā€™m surprised I got in cause I super last minute applied (like wrote my essays in three hours and submitted on the day of the deadline). Excited but also money is going to be the biggest factor. Hoping for scholarships or financial aid.

I wasnā€™t really thinking about it from the mission/values perspective. Iā€™m thinking of it more from the yield perspective. I just wonder if this group of high test score students will actually accept admission. These high test scorers will have a ton of options. Itā€™ll be interesting to see the admitted student profile when itā€™s all said and done.

It just seems like the student population that Villanova has historically had success with - kids averaging a high 1300 SAT - was really left behind this year. Consider the last 3 years of SAT data in Villanovaā€™s Common Data Set. The midpoint SAT for these 3 years for enrolled students is 1395 (2019-2020); 1385 (2018-2019); and 1360 (2017-2018).

If the score range posted in the chain above for this yearā€™s acceptances is accurate, it just seems like the applicants in Villanovaā€™s sweet spot (high 1300s) who chose to submit scores this year got left behind in favor of much higher test scores (who historically havenā€™t yielded as well for the school) + test optional admittances.

Thereā€™s still RD to go so of course things could change.

Daughter
Decision: Deferred
State/Country: PA
GPA: 3.93 Unweighted / 4.31 Weighted
SAT/ACT: 1390 / 31 (one sitting)
School/Major: Business
4 year varsity athlete, many other ECs

Without merit money itā€™s not going to happen at Villanova anyway and looking like merit money is not likely being deferred.
