I live in Southern New Jersey so Nova is about 45 mins away whereas Northeastern is like 7 hours, but I have relatives in Boston.

I love both schools and can see myself at either one of them.

Nova gave me 8 grand a year whereas NU gave me 13 a year, so Nova will end up costing me about 140,000 and NU about 110,000 over 4 years. My parents say that paying for Nova is doable, but they will have to live more modestly. NU costs less but with travel expenses it'll be about the same.

My parents want me to go to Nova because it's close to home.

I have visited both colleges 3 times or so.

My parents want me to make a decision within the next two weeks, which puts a little pressure on me. I really have no idea how I can make a choice. If you think there is an obvious pro or con I am missing on either one of these schools let me know. Any input will help.
I know I should go with my gut, but my gut is telling me that either one is a good fit.

Well obviously the co-op is a big difference between the two… sounds like you have a tough decision. I’d say Nova, if you’re equal between the two let your parents amke the decision - they’re paying for it anyways

I can’t necessarily speak for the colleges themselves, but I live in Villanova, and let me tell you, it’s pretty much the safest place on the planet (peace of mind). I’m not sure it’s the same for Northeastern. You can walk around at night, even off campus, and nothing is likely to happen to you. Not to mention you’re 15 minutes away from King of Prussia mall, which, if you like to shop, is heaven.

But really, choose the college that you feel more comfortable at.

well you will make money on co op if that means anything to you. as far as safety i forget the source but NU got ranked second for safest campus. I assume if you can see yourself at either place you know that both campuses are beautiful. I think job wise in engineering being around Boston would be a bit stronger than being around philly for mechanical engineering

These are all very valid points. Safety is, something I hadn’t thought about yet. The co-op would be the main reason I want to got to NU. Hadn’t thought about job options according to city yet, very good point. Thank you!
I’m still torn though. Today I’m leaning towards Northeastern. Tomorrow it might be Nova. Once again any input will be greatly appreciated.

Traveling expense sounds a little off. We live in south Jersey too and you can fly to Boston easily. Now Southwest will soon be flying right to Logan. Less than an hour and you are there.

I think it is natural for your parents to want you to be closer , but the flight makes it seem closer. I thought Northeastern was #1 for campus security in the nation ?

My parents figured that they would be up maybe 5 times a year and I would be flying back for holidays and such. Over the course of 5 years it would add up. Probably not to 30,000 lol but somewhere near that.
College ******* gives NU a C- for safety and Nova an A, but what do they know?

my cousin went to nova and loved it and said the engineering is supposed to be good. Don’t know much about Northeastern, but since they have a co-op program, I’d go there
