Villanova or Temple Business?

The cost would be the same. Which is better regarded?

Try to be objective please. Thanks

Without more information, Villanova is a solid school for business & accounting.

The Villanova Business School ranks very highly in undergraduate business schools. For instance, in the last year that Bloomberg ranked undergraduate business school, 2016, Villanova grabbed the number one ranking as opposed to Temple which I’m not sure where they stood on the list if they were at all.

By reputation would you say they are in the same class? Generally speaking, does one have a better reputation?

2018 US News rankings: #46 Villanova; #115 Temple. The Times Higher Ed World University Rankings: #87; Villanova, not ranked.

@GoCubsGo719, several articles were written after the Bloomberg 2016 rankings. Apparently, Temple, along with other business schools, were not considered…

Villanova

Are you sure that is correct? This is all I could find: https://www.timeshighereducation.com/world-university-rankings/temple-university

160 in US and between #351 and 400 in the world

You are correct, @Aldo Leopold. My apologies.

I’d say that anecdotally, Villanova has the better reputation for a business school. Their business school building is huge and beautiful and fancy and they’re pouring a lot of money into it. But it’s in a suburban area.

Then you have Temple, which is smack in the middle of a city. Which appeals more?

I’m indifferent. Institutional reputation and quality of eeducation are my only concerns.

Lol at Villanova claiming to be the #1 Business Program in the country… Nobody in the business word thinks this.

U.S. News ranks the undergrad business program at Villanova and Temple tied at #45

Was at Villanova recently for a campus visit. They kept reiterating the competitiveness of VSB. The building that it’s housed in looks brand new. Does anyone know of Villanova offers any merit aid? The admin person mentioned a Presidential scholarship which is full tuition, but that limited to 80 (I think going from memory) total freshmen, but did not mention any lower award amounts…not sure if that means there isn’t any.

Villanova has the best reputation and rankings. The vibe is extremely different though.

@MYOS1634 what do you mean about the vibe?

Upper class, suburban, socio-economically and ethnically homogenous for Villanova. Urban, socio-economically and ethnically diverse for Temple. Totally different. Have you been able to take a class and spend an overnight at both?

Villanova has more of a prep school vibe. It’s on the Main Line when compared with Temple which is a diverse, urban campus. As for the presidential scholarships they are very competitive. A colleague’s son was the top of his class at an Augustinian prep school and got zero merit aid. He is currently a sophomore business student and loves it. He chose Nova over Georgetown and does not regret his decision.

OK I understand what you mean

So flip a coin?

No, don’t flip a coin! Villanova is more highly regarded; but as noted above, it is suburban (albeit with easy train access to Center City Philadelphia) and very white. It is sometimes referred to as Vanilla-nova for a reason.

Temple is in North Philadelphia, a quick subway ride from Center City (or walkable in a pinch). Very diverse, urban environment. Fox Business School is very strong, just doesn’t have quite the cachet of the Villanova name.

If you are receiving substantial need-based aid at both, and having spending money is an issue, you might have an easier time finding cheap fun at Temple. Villanova has a lot of wealthier students with plenty of discretionary income, which can get old if you aren’t able to keep up with your friends socially.

You will get a fine education at either school. Choose the environment that fits you.
