I have been accepted to both schools and would like some advice.
Which has better recognition? which has the better business program?
Are the school good for finance?
What are the pros and cons of either?
How is the social life at each?
How hard is fresh. year?

bumppppppppp

Wake is expensive, an affluent community, but I do like it a lot (applying there in the fall). I don’t know much about Villanova, but Wake is an excellent undergrad experience, especially in your major. Wake is preppy, difficult, and the people can be somewhat snooty, but you will get a nice education.

I’m confused - you posted this on 5/6 - did you not pick one to deposit at? Or did you double deposit? Just clarify that point please.

I sent in my deposit to Wake, but just got off the waitlist at Villanova so I have until may 12th to decide.
Heres how I see it Im from northern Va so Nova wouldnt be too much of a culture shock, but Nova is also like 80% catholic and Im not religious plus I want to have a good time at college is villanova strict? Wake is known to be hard but they party harder but its also really greek and I dont know if I want that Im kinda torn between the two any opinionssss

Ok - now that you have clarified - I think both schools are excellent - great reputations - great for business. I would focus more on the subtle differences - Villanova being heavily Catholic, climate - I think most would prefer North Carolina. My son just finished his freshman year at wake Forest and loved it. He did not pledge a frat. On his hall - about 1/3rd of 22 guys did pledge - so it is certainly a presence - but not an overwhelming one. He’s presently at the beach with a bunch of friends - so his decision not to join a fraternity did not hurt him, as far as I can tell. I would suggest you read over the threads on both college forums and maybe PM people on each who seem knowlegable.

Personally, I would stay with Wake Forest. The fact that you got off the WL at Villanova and are not raring to go there makes me think that as well. If Villanova was your first choice, you would have felt that way as soon as you were notified, right? The fact that you are hesitating and have listed some concerns about Villanova makes me think you were already happy with Wake Forest. But bottom line - they are both great and I am sure you could be happy at either one.

I have to disagree. Villanova has got some of the best job placement. I can vouche, that I am not very religious and I fit right in. If you did not know it was a catholic school, believe me you would never notice. Kids go to mass but everyone is pretty private about it, except for community service, which is pretty big with everyone (and i dont consider that to be something exclusively Catholic ). School spirit is huge and pretty much everyone that goes there, loves it ( we have the highest transfer back rate- kids who transfer and then transfer back). Greek life is not huge as frats dont have houses on campus, thus most parties are off campus. Greek life is there if you want to join but not overwhelming. Alot of the organizations do benefits and charity work and are generally just a group of very good, social friends. The buisness schools has unparrelled prestige ( more so then Wake) and I know the As. Dean of the Finance Program and she is great, very open and helpful. Villanova will do anything to help its students suceed and offer great career consouling and job placement. The Clay center has hundreds of alumni connections ( especailly at Johnson and Johnson, whose CEO is a Nova graduate) and can get you any internship you want. They train you on resume building and interview skills. College is a different experience and it is what you make of it, so both Nova and Wake would be a good choice.

Wake Forest Schools of Business Undergraduate Program Ranks #1 in the Nation for Academic Quality in recent report by BusinessWeek

March 22, 2010

BusinessWeek magazine ranks Wake Forest Universitys Undergraduate Business Program first in the nation for academic quality and 18th overall, in its 2010 list of the Top 50 Undergraduate Business Schools. The magazine announced its fifth annual ranking of The Best Undergrad Business Schools on March 4.

Again, I think they are both fine schools. I’ll let the above press release speak for itself.

I agree wake does have a great school but dont you wonder why with number 1 academic quality wake ranks 18th overall, if you look at student satisfaction wake is ranked 38th which is why it is being held back in the rankings. I think how happy students are does play a role and many i have talked say the grade deflation and hard courseload is demoralizing at wake so thats kinda what been holding me back, Nova on the other hand is 7th in satisfaction.
