my essay is 900 words. i think it's good and I don't really notice it's length when I read it, but do you think that's too long?

Also, if anyone would like to read it and cut it down for me just PM me. thanks!

I won't read your essay since I don't think I'm nearly qualified enough to make suggestions, but I'll pass on a word of advice: it's only too long once it stops getting interesting.

Give it to three good friends (preferably ones with a good grasp of the English language & different interests). Ask them to read the entire thing.

If they can get to the end without speed reading part of it, then it's not too long. If they say "it's good so far" or start speed reading half way through, your essay is too long.

"Too long", as daggerman says, is subjective. Something can be OK at 900 words and too long at 800. It depends on whether it remains interesting from beginning to end.

To give you an idea, my essay was a hair longer then 700 words and everyone I gave it to (teachers, friends, guidance counselor) said the length was great. So if you can give it to those people, they should be able to give you a better idea.

thanks but i already sent it in cause the prelim deadline was like last week

mine was only 550! =D
and i think its fine
