Hey all, I posted this in the Villanova forums, but I wasn't getting any responses.

I'm looking at transferring to Villanova for the spring '09 semester and I just wanted to know what kind of transfer scholarships they give out.

hi, I was looking at villanova also. were you accepted already for spring 09? i was going to apply to transfer for fall 09....could you tell me what ur credentials are so I can compare myself to see what others are applying have? also, I am pretty sure they don't give any transfer scholarships b/c i checked their website and it seems that way

Thats what I was worried about...

And I'm sorry I'm actually applying for the fall '09 semester, I don't know why I wrote spring

3.68 weighted high school GPA

3.75 first semester college GPA

Also, I was just reading some of your posts, and although I am by no means an expert on the process I don't think you'll have any trouble getting into Nova. Your SAT is pretty low, but that should be more than made up for by your stellar GPA and good ec's.

it just costs soo much to go there its ridiculous, I dont think you will have any probem getting in either- how would you plan to pay for it?

hey guys

im a freshman that goes to nova, and while i can't speak for the university or financial aid as a whole, i think it's important to know that the university operated under a deficit during this semester.

to compensate, my spanish teacher informed me that the intermediate/intro language classes (the one the freshman take to fill their requirements) will be expanded to ~30 students per section next year. i'm not sure if this is going to be an isolated incident, or if this would happen across the board. they wouldn't do it for stuff like the freshman core seminar (ACS) and classes larger than high 20s, low 30s are almost unheard of, but i wouldnt be shocked to see classes a little larger in the next coming semesters.

granted, the school is not going to sell off its assets or anything, but I wouldn't be surprised if aid packages this year were a little skimpier than those in years past.

hope this helps

You'll have no problem getting in. It's not a very competitive or academically rigorous school. I work at a bar nearby the campus. In my experience, they graduate thousands of people a year who can't correctly add the tip & total together on a debit card receipt.

hellojan, you actually made me laugh out loud. I just wanted to let you know.

To the OP and the other prospective Nova transfer, scholarships for transfers are scarce, mostly only found at lower tier schools. A lot of schools are bad about financial aid for transfers too. Your best bet is going to be to find need-blind schools that meet close to 100% of need and contact their financial aid offices to determine if this policy applies to transfer students. I've been worrying about the same thing as I prepare to transfer for the fall. Good luck, and I hope things work out for you!

so any ideas on how to make sure i get the most aid? how much aid do you think i can get from nova with an EFC of around 40,000?

You're EFC is 40,000?!?!!?? Wow, you'll get almost nothing. You're pretty much dependent on loans and you're family to hook you up (which it sounds like they should do).

its only 40000 bcuz im the last kid so my other siblings are out of the house, but my dad is a retired teacher and my mom is still a teacher...i dotn undderstand how its 40000
