& for what it matters have relatives (not parents) and teachers that are william and mary alumni.

I would value and highly appreciate any advice for an improved transcript and my chances at getting into these schools, particularly William and Mary

*SINCE I AM A JUNIOR YOU WILL BE GIVING ME ADVICE I CAN PUT INTO ACTION, ADVICE THAT I CAN ACTUALLY PUT TO USE (UNLIKE THE CURRENT APPLYING SENIORS)
please don't hesitate to chance-me :]

You will have a fine chance of getting into W&M and UVA. I haven't as much of a sense of the other schools, but chances should be good for them...especially W&L and BC, also.

If you wish to explain the sophomore year grades, you'll have a chance to do so on your application.

Just do well your senior year.

Interesting that you're taking marine bio...I'm sure you know W&M has a fine grad program in that area. My D is a sophomore at W&M, and one of her friends plans to enter it, and has been able to sign up for a high level marine bio course next semester.

idk how ur unweighted GPA is by the looks of it, not too good, and that matters most. Your in at ur state schools. But as for BC its def a reach, but doable, do well on ur standardized tests to have a better shot. Idk much about W&L so im not gonna give an opinion.

oh that's so good to hear. I felt like all hope was over.
i've heard that uva & w&m hate to see c's :X
I feel better knowing that these schools are realistic goals, yay.

& ill have to do that in the essay!

also, i know william and mary strives for a diverse student body and the high school that i go to (which is instate) has everyone applying for the best instate schools..
will this kill my chances?

and im also worried because i'm applying early decision to w&m and they wont see all of my senior grades.
they will only see an improvement over one year (from my sophomore year to junior year) versus how I stand as a senior.

So what I'm really asking is, is it better to apply early decision, the very beginning of senior year, or regular admission when the pool of applicants is larger but they see more of my grades.

Well, we probably could give you a better chance after you post your SAT/SAT II (for UVA). As for W & L, you need to make sure you take the tour and land an interview. A friend of mine has a son who was waitlisted by W & L because he did not interview -- had the scores and grades, but no interview. He is now at UVA.

And do explain your sophomore year on the application. Schools are understanding about personal situations and that your academics can be affected.

yeah i realize that bc and Georgetown are far reaches.

but any advice when applying to my top 3 choices w&m W&l and uva?
like what activities and clubs should i enroll in that will look good for those schools?

W&L and Boston college may be reaches, the have both becoming extremely competitive in recent years, all the rest are not as competitive. focus on a very good sat score 1450 plus to counter your grades and you should be good for all those schools...good luck!
