I am a prospective in state male student in an IB program in the Tidewater area of VA. I have taken 3 AP classes so far and all others are full IB classes. My only downfall is my GPA. I have a 3.3 UW/ 3.6 W GPA. I have struggled in the past with some of my difficult subjects and have experienced the effects of depression and ADD, which is a horrible combination. I previously overcame my depressive state, but am still prone to short term depression. I only recently started an ADD treatment (the middle of my junior year) and it actually has helped me. Is this something I should mention in my application?
Here is a simplified overview of my statistics/activities
GPA: 3.3UW/3.6W
ACT: 27
SAT: 1170 (CR+M)
Full IB diploma student
3 APs
Eagle Scout
District Chorus
Church Choir Cantor
Madrigals
Youth Group
I made my own cookbook and sold it for charity (I loooove to cook!!)
I really want to make myself a good candidate, so if I make mostly A’s my first semester senior year (which I think they will see), do you think I have a decent chance?? I also haven’t studied for the ACT or SAT and I’ll be taking those again in the Fall. I’m hoping for a 30 ACT and 1300 SAT.
