Virginia Tech short answer

It says the limit is 200 words in length for short answer essay. I can do 1, 2 or none, but i chose to do 1 since I could write more on one topic. Question is: Will going over word limit hurt me? If not - by how much can i go over - tonight i must submit it.

REPLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! I like how so many people look at a post and don't comment - you worthless scumbags. No honestly, I would greatly appreciate it if anyone responded to my question! I will give you something if you can think of something reasonable to give over the internet like notes or something. PLEASE im begging

Normally you can go over/under about 10%. That's just a general rule. For my common app essay (supposed to be 500 words), I did about 575. But I tried deleting as many as I could, and finally I couldn't get rid of anymore. Just make sure that all the extra words you are using actually say something of substance, and not just extraneous filler. I'm pretty sure that adscoms will read all of what you write (if it's within a reasonable length), but if you add extra words, make sure they're captivating so that adscoms WANT to keep reading. Anyway, good luck!
