O joy, but finals are almost here as well!

I just noticed a red flag on my application that lead to my financial aid details. I’m assuming this means I was accepted? Don’t know why they would calculate aid for a student who was denied. Crossing my fingers till I get a letter!

Same thing happened to me today. It also happened to some people two weeks ago around pg 17. If you got a scholarship, I think that is a good sign. Someone emailed about it and they said it doesn’t mean anything but at the same time, you make a valid point.

I see that there is the University Honors application on my application page I cant remember if this was there before… does everyone have this?

@coleworld123 I did some research and found some good news! “Our office will send a notification of the award package to each new freshman and transfer student.” VTech’s website implies that if you received a financial aid package, you’ve been accepted to the college. I still wouldn’t say that if they’ve posted your financial aid details you’ve been accepted, but you should feel pretty good about your chances. I could be over-analyzing it, someone correct me if I’m interpreting this wrong.

I’m pretty positive that they wouldn’t award financial aid unless you were accepted. The bookkeeping would be a nightmare if they calculated aid for everyone. Plus the award letter has hints of admission all over it. “All aid is awarded on the assumption of full time enrollment.” I’m gonna try not to stress and check this board five times a day.

@vtes2014 I don’t have that, so that probably means you were accepted.

Haha nice! I also noticed those little hints. I hope you’re right lol.

So does this only apply to scholarships awarded, or all financial aid offered?

@NeedToBeAHokie I think all financial aid offered. Again, this is all speculation, everything is subject to change until you receive an email/letter.

@JoshIsACowboy27 that makes sense. Thanks!

I wonder if there will be any birds tomorrow since its a Friday and after this financial aid stuff today

@Coleworld123 I hope so!!

Hey guys, I just now got an email from the VT financial aid office saying they JUST received my financial aid request… I sent in my FAFSA before the March 1st date. I was wondering if this happened to anyone else and if it’ll affect how much aid I get. I already sent them an email too.

Ehh I don’t think so. I think they are able to show you how much financial aid you can get if you do get accepted without being accepted first. I think that is something mainly FAFSA takes care of. If you were to get a scholarship though that could be a different story.

I had applied for FAFSA late and hadn’t heard back about how much aid I am eligible for. So I called them and today they just emailed me saying they are reviewing my aid and will notify me. I highly doubt this means I am accepted lol.

@Turkish93 Yeah you definitely could be right. We’ll figure out in a couple weeks.

I want to stress that this is all speculation, but I kept digging around and found some more information. “…you must be admitted to Virginia Tech to be awarded need-based financial aid…” So if you have any sort of scholarships or grants showing up, you should feel pretty good about your chances.

Personally I didn’t receive any grants or scholarships, just federal loans. I’m not sure if loans can be calculated before a student is admitted, so I’m just crossing my fingers and hoping I’ll be admitted.

Maybe it’s saying that you need to be admitted in order to be able to accept and use them, which is different than being able to see what you could be awarded.

@Turkish93 Could be. Like I said, nothing is for sure until you get a letter. Best we can do is hope!

@Almris @Coleworld123 For the HS transcript, it will not show up on your application status. Only your official transcript from college will. The only reason they need your HS transcript is to see if you have graduated. So even if you did not send in your HS transcript they would still make a decision but you would need to send it in before you can enroll. I sent my HS transcript in November and I applied in early December and I got accepted on Feb 17th. I never once and still do not have my HS transcript status on my page.
