I am a virginia resident planning to either major in bio and psych at USC or clinical neuroscience at Tech. I am pursuing a pre-med track.
USC has always been my number one school and I was lucky enough to receive a merit based scholarship, however I did not receive in-state tuition, it was about a $10,000 a year scholarship. This would make USC about $12,000 more a year than Tech. The only ‘cons’ of USC for me are the cost and the fact that I MAY want to major in neuroscience, which USC does not offer, however I learned that they are planning to offer that major in about 2 years so in the meantime I could double major in bio and psych. I am also in the Capstone Program
As a VA resident I have always wanted to get away from VA and go out of state but I do like Tech as a school. I don’t like the environment at tech as much as I do at USC. However, I am so drawn to the amazing neuroscience department and the in-state tuition is compelling as well. I was also accepted into the Honors College.
I feel that my heart is at USC and I would have a better overall experience but I am coming to realize that Tech may be more sensible, but I don’t know how happy I would be there since I have been trying to escape VA and NOVA kids for such a long time.
I would love any advice on decision making and any past experience from current students or parents of student!
