I’m a high school senior in Virginia. I have a 3.6 weighted GPA and 1840 SAT (750m, 520cr, 570w). I’m applying to engineering as first choice and business as second choice. I will take multivariable calculus my senior year as I’ve exhausted my classes. I also do a ton of extracurricular like SCA and NHS and Boy Scouts (if that matters). What are my chances of getting?
VT tends to look at GPA more than test scores, so I would try to get your GPA up just a little bit-especially if that is weighted? Engineering is pretty competitive at such a school that prides it. I think you have an okay chance-write a really great personal statement and make sure you have leadership positions/community service.
If I was to switch my major from engineering to business, my chances would rise correct?
Definitely, your chances would be much better for business than engineering
Should I apply for early decision or not?
I don’t see a reason for you not to apply ED. You’d either get accepted or deferred from what it looks like to me.
(If you get deferred, they’re probably just trying to see how much higher you can bring you GPA up to by the time RD rolls by. Vtech places a little more emphasis on GPA than other things for some reason.)
We’re on the same boat though.
Anyways, best of luck~
You have a really good chance of getting in, your SAT score is way better than mine and I got into the engineering school this
Did you have the a 3.6? I believe Tech looks more into GPA more than SAT.
