anyone about the above??????

sorry...I'm referring to the one before that one.

Thanks

Has anyone taken a course through Apex? how was it? I might do US history through them next year.

If you want the credit for the course, yes...you will have to report that you took it through the virtual high school. an excellent option would be to just report the score (as if you did self-study). You can have scores for AP's that you do not have credit classes for. That way, you don't have to report how you took it...as long as you are not trying to use the credit to satisfy a graduation requirement.

Yeah, just report it as under something along the lines of other schools attended. You'll have to do that if you take a course at a community college anyways.

On the note of taking an AP class online, i find it EXTREMELY boring and my teacher is a moron. Im taking AP US gov., and its a waste of my time. I write an essay and post on a forum once a week, and take a test. It's repetative, boring, and not very useful. But then again, im more of a math guy. So the subject sucks for me too.

Thanks again hsmomstef,

So if I reported the AP as if I self studied then would it matter at all what grade I received in the online course? Because if the grade doesn't matter, I could learn the material without stressing out. I don't mean failing, but probably going for a B instead of killing myself trying to get an A.

Another question is how hard is it to truly learn the material of AP Macro/Microeconomics by self studying? I know you can read a textbook and do the problem sets, but I don't know if I have enough discipline to do this consistently throughout the entire year and book. That's why I'm looking at an online course, but I want to look at and compare all my options.

young_one: that is why my son is doing the virtual high school classes this year...I don't think he has the discipline to self-study it right now. If you just report the score you got on the AP, and didn't claim the credit (which you probably don't need) then you do not need to report the grade. It would be the same as if you took a study prep course at at learning center or with a tutor. that would be my suggestion, take the course to keep you one track (also, my son really needs someone to ask questions about the course material...and it isn't me) and just report the score.

I talked to my counselor at school today and she informed me that the school would only pay for the online classes when i'm a senior... :( so i asked her about self studing and she recommended it..... so thats what i've decided to do....thanks for the help everyone...

ally07...don't give up! kentucky virtual high school offers scholarships for AP courses...my son got 2 scholarships this year, AP enviro and AP Psych....he started the classes today.

Just apply for the scholarship and explain why you need it...it can't hurt. If it is for a class for next year, I think you can apply in the late spring.

This is really late, but how did your guys’ experience go with VHS? I would really appreciate some firsthand comments as I want to take AP French but don’t want to dish out $900 to something that wasn’t very great…
