I have some questions regarding the DS-160 form (I’m from France and I’m applying for a 3 month F1 VISA) :
What is the National Identification Number ?
The question "Are you a permanent resident of a country other than your country of origin...", is it a question about our potential double nationality or not link ?
For the question "secondary phone number" , is it really necessary to put our secondary phone number or not ? It could probably prove my solid link to my home country by having a 2 lines numbers ? I don't know if having 2 phones is okay for the officer.
For the part "Date of arrival in US" and "Date of departure", I don't know if this refers to my enter in the US territory and to my departure from the territory or to my start date at the school and the final day ?
-Finally, if I still didn’t find a studio what should I put in the section “Address where you will stay in the US ?”
Does your country assign ID numbers to people? Americans have a “Social Security Number.” We get one when we’re young and keep the same number for the rest of our life. The government uses it to identify us, e.g. when we file our taxes, register to vote or apply for public benefits. If there’s no such number in your country, select “does not apply.”
Permanent residency is an immigration status. It’s one step removed from becoming a citizen; permanent residents are allowed to live and work in a country indefinitely, and often qualify to apply for naturalization if they desire.
Second and third phone numbers don’t prove ties. They are used to communicate with you. If the US consulate needs to reach you and you don’t answer calls on the first number, would you like them to try another number?
Date of arrival and date of departure refer to your actual travel dates, not the dates of your program.
Students often use their school’s address to apply for the visa, if they don’t have housing arranged yet. Make sure it’s an address where you’d be able to receive mail if necessary. (College students most commonly use the address of their student mailbox, or the address of the International Student Office.)
Thank you so much b@r!um for taking the time answering to my questions I appreciate it. In the meantime I was wondering why do they need us to put 2 personals contacts (still in the DS-160 form) in my home country and they must not be family members or relatives ?
