I’m currently unemployed (since 3 months) and I’m about to apply for a 3 month F1 Visa regarding a whole other field than my last job. I’ve been accepted to a musical school in the US and my home country is France.
Is this a problem for the officer if I’m unemployed and especially if I’m having the unemployment benefits while I’m applying for the F1 Visa ? Should I provide the paper that mention that I have the unemployment or should I only stipulate that I’m unemployed ?
Whether you are employed or unemployed does not usually matter for F-1 purposes. You might have to quit your job anyway to study in the US.
The US consulate will be concerned about your ability to pay for your education. If you emphasize that you are currently receiving unemployment benefits (i.e. government assistance), the consulate may take another look at your financial documents.
How will you pay for your music education? You need to answer this question in order to get a visa. It could be from a scholarship or from savings, it doesn’t matter.
Besides having the unemployment benefits, I actually have the funds to pay my studies and my living expenses. I spend 1 year working to save money and my account prove that I have enough funds.
The unemployment benefits could be a “plus” or is it better to not mention it and just mention the fact that I’am unemployed ?
MYOS1634, yes as I said I have the money to pay for my music education. I saved money during 1 year while I was working to be able to finance my projects. Now I’m unemployed and having unemployment benefits. And I don’t if having unemployment benefits could be a problem for the officer to allow me to get the visa ?
