Go ahead! I'll post mine too in a minute ;)

That's about how my interview went:

I see you want to study at BMC. Why did you choose that college?

It's a small residential women's college and I always wanted to attend a boarding school when I was little. Anyway, they have a great program where I can earn my Master's degree in math in 4 years and they have offered me a lot of financial aid.

Good for you. I see you have already been to the States before. What did you do?

I attended high school for a year as a Sophomore. I was in [a town in New England] and that town is sooo pretty. There was a huge lake with a sand beach and my host family owned a motor boat. I've had a really great year and I am still in contact with my host family and a few friends.

(looks at my visa application again) Oh, you currently live in ....? I have been there last weekend. (Now we talk about my town for a minute)

My interviewer signs my visa application and enters something into her computer.

OK, I have approved your visa. You will get your passport back in two to three days. Oh, I almost forgot, what are you going to do after college?

Right now I think I might work for a bank or an insurance company but I am really not sure yet. Well, I still have 4 years to make up my mind.

OK. Thank you. Have a nice trip home.

yeah curlyfry! I want! =D!

I was reading this thread all over again and I was wondering where tango is.... I'd like to know..

my interview is august 15, still got time to go to the moon and back

^^ Wasn't tango the kid who used the wrong I-20? I guess we will be hearing back from him/her in late August or early September :D

who is tango and whts the story with him??

omg yeah, i wonder how tango is!!!

you guys, terrible thing!!! my friend's visa got denied!!!! she was going to go to vanderbilt for biomed eng, but during her interview, she didnt show sufficient funds, coz like her dad owns a restaurant and her mom is stay-at-home, and when she showed the bank cert that her dad had usd100k, the interview guy didnt believe her, especially since she couldnt prove where all the money came from (she showed receipts of paying vanderbilt already, etc. but i guess the officer didnt find it sufficient since it showed where the money was going and not where it was coming from). so she got her visa denied!

My interview's on my Facebook... wait, I'm pasting:

We met a lot of people also going for visas on the train, and they said "GO TO THE EMBASSY EARLY, the appointment times are MISLEADING!" This turned out to be totally false. I got to wait for two hours before I was called for pre-screening (according to my right appointment time) I kept myself amused by talking to a lot of people. Then, they called me for pre-screening, and I stood in a line and they checked my documents, and told me to go to the next building. There, I stood in another line for one and a half hours, went inside, stood in another line, got fingerprinted, and then sat down to be called for the interview. After another one and a half hours, I was called, and stood in another line. I watched another person get rejected. "You have 30 seconds to tell me why I should issue this visa. Why do you want to study in this program?" Guy explains for a minute. "No, I don't want a rehearsed speech! Speak from your heart!" Guy mumbles. "I'm sorry, I cannot approve your visa. Think about why you want to do this before you re-apply."

I got pretty nervous. Then I heard other interviews, then I got un-nervous and nervous again. Finally, it was my turn. FINALLY.

Me: Good afternoon ma'am! smile
She: Hello, how are you?
Me: I'm fine, how are you?
She: Fine. Can I have your folder please?

She asked me to give her my GRE and TOEFL scores. I said "Actually, it's the SAT!" "Oh, you're going for your undergraduate studies!" She seemed pretty happy. She asked me why I chose Oberlin. "I'm plannnig to double major in computer science and creative writing, and Oberlin has one of the top three undergrad creative writing programs, and a great CS program! ...and they gave me a scholarship!" She said "Fantastic!" She asked me how I'd pay for it, I told her, she said "Your visa will be issued and will be couriered to you within a week!" Internally, I go "YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!"

[I am not proofreading that, it's pasted directly from my Facebook note on the subject.]

I am so sorry for your friend. I hope she has already scheduled a new visa interview?

Shouldn't the consulate only care that you have the money and not where the money is coming from? Or did they suspect her family to be engaged in illegal activities?

Hope tango is fine....

yeah, she has an interview on thursday.

i dont know, i think the officer didnt believe that you could earn so much from a restaurant. anyways, hopefully her 2nd time goes so much better. thanks for the concern barium :)

Oh, I just read about your friend...Hope she gets it next time...DEFINITELY!...

My interview is tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Best wishes to ya, inshallah..(You will get it anyways..:p)..

where are u going inshallah?

I live in Dubai but I'm Indian and I'm going to Universoty of Michigan.

oh cool! =D!
good luck!!!

Oh man.. I got myself into a big visa mess..
How long does it take to get an interview? i know it varies by country.. but im in newzealand.. how long do you reckon? They said that I'll get my visa on the day of my interview.. So yeah.. my interview..
I dont have my I-20 yet (the big mess) but can i still call and arrange for an interview for a date like 3 weeks later? Or do they need my documents in front of them before I can schedule an interview..
I'm like in so much crap because I might not have my visa before the 16th of aug.. sob sob
