Visions of Freedom!

Just got into my #1 Focus Cluster choice: Visions of Freedom. Can any current students who've taken that Focus tell me what it's like? How painful is the work, in terms of both difficulty and sheer volume?

I'm very interested in both the topic and the individual professors and classes (anyone wanna chime in on which of the 4 classes available are the best? There's one in English, Literature, Philosophy, and Political Science), but I still have a couple weeks to decide if I want to accept the offer or not, so I just want to be sure that I'm not signing up for academic/GPA suicide first semester...

I’m sure it’s changed…but is that in Wilson? At least, a few years ago I heard that that FOCUS was a lot of work (reading hundreds of pages a week), but pretty much everybody gets A’s if you do the work…So, it actually helps your GPA. Professors and courses may have changed since then, so take it with a grain of salt.

Yeah, at least it’s been in Wilson traditionally. We’re not sure yet where we’ll be this year.

Oh, I’m totally fine with reading that much, if the classes aren’t graded ridiculously hard lol.

So do you think, for my other two classes, I should choose NON-reading/writing-intensive classes? Like maybe a science and a foreign language intro (French, perhaps)?
And then I can take Writing 20 second semester…

hey! at first, congratulations on your acceptance!
visions of freedom was my first choice as well… but i was assigned to another cluster.
i’m kind of worrying about the same thing, planning to take some “easy” couses since i’m an international (a lot of reading may potentially kill me lol)
