Visit Tips/Suggestions

Due to scheduling conflicts, looking to visit the University in early August. Any sugggestions or recommendations to make the visit useful or beneficial would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Using the advanced "search" function in the dark blue bar above will bring up lots of discussions on this.

Sign up for a "Meet USC" program or at least a Campus Tour-
USC Undergraduate Admission: Visit USC

Good luck!

It may be a bit harder to figure out what the school is really like in the off season, but there will still be people around. Feel free to ask anyone who looks like a college student questions. Most people are willing to chat for a bit (as long as they aren't late to anything!). Depending on how early in August, some people may have already moved in (football players and RAs). The two groups are pretty easy to tell apart :)

Walk around campus on your own after the tour, exploring some of the areas that you didn't reach on the tour. Have a great time!

One thing to keep in mind is all the construction going on - by the time school starts, they'll have it more cleaned up, but for the summer months things can be kind of messy. It's not a major issue but it's just something to pay attention to.

If you can visit USC around Aug. 21-22, you will get to see all of the new students moving in and get a glimpse of what the USC welcome is all about.

That is probably not a good time for a prospie to visit, since the campus is going to be very hectic and most offices are going to be busy taking care of the froshies. The admissions office seems to feel the same way, as there are no "Meet USC" events scheduled for 8/19-8/21.

Meet USC

Then perhaps the first available day after 8/21 if it is part of the welcome week at USC. I was completely unaware that I scheduled my son's tour of USC last August when the departments had their welcome parties on campus during the day. My son loved the tour and also thought the welcome parties looked great.

Even I stay away from campus on move-in day. It's not exactly the campus at it's finest. :)
