My friend (not me) received a invitation to Vistas in the mail without a prior likely letter or phone call. What does that mean?

Do most of the incoming freshman come for Visitas?

I was wondering the same thing as Gordon.

Also, a correction to my previous post: it looks like I’ll be able to go the 17th and 18th, although not the 16th. Hope to see you all there! Did anyone else get a Harvard pennant in the mail? I was really surprised when I opened up the package yesterday.

You guys all seem to have really early proms, or ours is just really late–not until mid-May.

I’m not sure what that means, but hopefully it is good! I have only heard of people who received likely letters getting the pennants, so that is probably a good sign! But I really don’t know what it could mean, so don’t look too far into it either.

^^Gordon
Once again, I’m not really sure how many attend. Out of the likely letters, a large percentage is attending at least a day or two, but then again, we had more time to prepare for the visit, so our percentage will probably be higher than the percentage will be for the whole class.

That’s great! I hope to see you there on the 17th because I won’t be able to make it to the 18th because I’ve taken too many college days lol. And the pennant did make my week! It was such a nice surprise. Lastly, yes our prom is really early. Our prom is usually in mid to late April, but it is even earlier this year because we had to go off of the schedule of the Cowboy’s Stadium, which was booked for the other weekends we submitted.

So my son received the Harvard pennant and a likely phone call followed up by a letter…what does that signify and should he plan a campus visit?

Hi all
I am reading through this and I am a bit confused so if someone could help out… How do some of you already know that you are attending the Weekend? I am an international student, so I am not eligible for most of Early stuff anyways and I didn’t bother with it too much, but as far as I know Harvard doesn’t even have early admission… am I wrong there?
Thanks a bunch :)

^^chardur: A likely letter means that he will be getting an official offer of admission later this week… and I would definitely recommend going to Visitas. It’ll give all of us a chance to experience Harvard firsthand.

^Mirta: I believe that all of us who have said we’re attending have gotten likely letters–early notification that Harvard will send an admission packet. It’s essentially the same thing as being offered admission, but not completely “official.” Hope that helps!

@thewes6: It does help, a lot
Thank you. And congratulations to all of you who received your likely letters!

Do students recieve a school email sometime during the year?

I’m definitely going and am very excited!

I can’t go because I’m watching my cousin fly the last shuttle mission! :(

just registered :)

So wanted to come. But I live 6000 km away in Albania and that would be impossible for me ![]()
Hope you guys have fun though ![]()
And meet you in Cambridge soon (sort of)

Registered today
Can’t wait to meet you guys!

I registered too! I can’t wait. The schedule looks awesome!

My son is coming to Visitas and trying to choose between Harvard and another Ivy League. I think for me the hardest part is that other schools have been so wonderful and if he chooses Harvard, I need to help him find a way where he expresses his appreciation to all these other truly wonderful schools that offered him a place.

I am kinda dealing with that same issue…Is your son visiting the other Ivy League as well? We are still trying to decide…

Don’t sweat thanking the other universities. They are professionals and accept that candidates do say “no”. Just write them a nice thank you letter. They will not take it personally. 20%+ of accepted candidates to Harvard say no.

Dear Mirta: if you are an international student, there may be activities in your own country. There certain are in Britain. If you really want to attend an event in Cambridge and cannot for cost reasons, contact admissions and financial aid. You may be surprised…

To Miami admits: Do regional Harvard Club members host admitted students receptions? I’ve received word from a few institutions but nothing from Harvard.

Regardless, VISITAS! I will definitely be attending. I like that Harvard has current students call you to offer advice/answers, only increases the excitement.

As far as multiple acceptances… I felt elated and yet very guilty yesterday when my packages came in the mail. I would be lucky to attend any of the schools that accepted me but my attention was undeniably, disproportionately skewed toward the red folder.
