Visiting Boston College

Hi, I am a parent who will be in Waltham for business and wanted to pop over to Boston College. Won’t have time for a real tour, but would like to walk around. Where should I start and what should I make sure to see? Assume I have an hour or two to walk around. Thanks.

If you go to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions (in Devlin Hall), you can pick up a brochure for a self-guided walking tour of the campus. It provides some interesting background on the history and architecture of BC and focuses on the highlights like the McMullen Art Museum, Bapst Library, the “Golden Eagle” statue, eyc.

Dear pizzagirl : worried_mom provides some great advice - she has you starting on middle campus (the area around O’Neill Plaza) and working your way out from there.

If you are wondering about life for an entering freshman, head towards upper campus and stop by McElroy Commons which will give you some of the vibe. As you drive towards the school, you will likely pass Newton campus (if you are coming from the Mass Pike), so you should be able to see that housing also.

If you do head to lower campus, stop by the football stadium since you will be able to “relate” to watching BC games on television.
