We'll be visiting next month. Flying in Saturday night, staying near River Walk and flying out on Tuesday. The hotel charges parking. All the tourist things we want to do are within walking distance. Is it worth it to rent a car or is the public transportation system good enough that it isn't necessary?

I sent you a PM.

There are VIA public buses and you can see tourist attractions on foot as they are concentrated in downtown area. To go to Trinity from downtown, you can take Route 8 bus and it will take right outside the university. Similarly, you can take Bus 8 back from the university to downtown areas. If this is all you have in mind, public bus service will suffice.
